Google Pixel 8/8 Pro & Pixel Watch 2

Worth a shot.
I ordered mine on the 5th, so seeing as you need to wait 14 days, I can't submit till the 19th (or would it be 20th). Hopefully stocks last! Perhaps I should have said nothing! :D

Don’t over think it too much. Just get the case and screen protector and you will be sorted.

I ordered the Spigen Liquid Air and also the L+K Tempted Screen protector kit.

Spigen Liquid Air Case Compatible... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CL8T5YNP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

LK 2+2 Pack for Google Pixel 8A... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D1YB4BJ7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Hopefully my pixel order will come on Monday.

How well does the spigen liquid air case accommodate the extra depth added by the rear camera protector?

I just got my wife a clear spigen case to shoow off the pixel 8 phone colour a bit. It seems to have the full camera bar across it.

No offence but it's nothing like the one I have. The camera bar is not fully exposed like I'm after. I'm happy to pay 30 quid for a decent case.

My mistake, yes it's hard to tell initially in the picture due to the shading. I'm not bothered about the camera bar being fully exposed. If anything I'd prefer the added enclosure and protection of it not being exposed. In any case, with the see through ones you still get the colour all show through anyway.
There are definitely some with the full bar exposed if you want though. Here's a clear one for example.

it is proper tidy to be honest, better than the official cases in my opinion. The 8a camera bar is so much thinner than the one I remember having on the Pixel 7 Pro.

If you knew why didn't you... ha!

A good deal is a good deal regardless even if it drops even more later. Plus I would have traded in a burner, not the 6 Pro you had.

ordered one this morning (hopefully) on a deal that is very similar in price but with no trade in

hopefully arrives within the next month

my P20 Pro has no real trade-in value now, this price was too good to resist

What actually is the main benefit of the Pixel 8 pro over the 8A? Slightly bigger/better screen and chassis, better camera and some extra software features, slightly larger battery? Can the 8A still do the magic erase stuff and background blur on portrait photos etc?

Main stuff is telephoto, faster charging, bigger brighter screen battery etc. Thinner bezels, more premium build.

8A can still do all the software stuff you mentioned

I was very surprised when testing in the shop how small the Pixel 8 was - I thought was going to be about the size of my P20 Pro and the 8 Pro would seem massive. To my surprise the 8 Pro seemed the most equivalent in size (marginally larger) and the Pixel 8 felt a bit small tbh

Yeah it is a little smaller to be fair.

Have had a Pixel 8 Pro for a week now (moving from a OnePlus 5T) and like the screen and the crispness of photos/post-processing and low light options.

However the fingerprint sensor is pretty awful compared to the 5T and you're limited to 4 fingers in the database. Regularly fails to recognise.
Also can't believe more recent Android versions don't allow macros/tasks to disable WiFi based on location without going via out of date toolkits which then isn't worth the risk.

Funny because I came from the pixel 5 and it felt bigger than I wanted, though now used to it.

Mine is fine, never noticed an issue however I should add, before I can even get my finger in place, the face unlock usually gets done first so I actually rarely use the fingerprint sensor

I'm getting my Pixel 8 next week and I'm on the hunt for a full film screen protector, because I don't like the thickness of glass screen protectors.

What do people recommend for a film screen protector? Amazon links would be great, as would eBay (who are usually cheaper for these). Ideally I'd like the protector to cover most/all of the screen so it doesn't stand out like a sore thumb, but I am aware that going over the edges will cause the protector to become loose so want to avoid that.

Google Pixel 8 is here and I have a few questions.
  1. How do you remove the date from the top left of the home screen (currently shows Mon, 12 Aug)? I've tried tapping and holding it, but can't move, resize or delete it. :(
  2. How do you backup contacts to a VCF file? I backed my contacts up to a VCF on my old phone, saved it to my PC then copied it to the Pixel 8. But I didn't see any backup/restore option in Contacts or Phone. In the end I just opened file in Files by Google and it saved them to my phone. But I'm concerned about backing my contacts to a VCF file in the future. Sure I could save them to my Google account, but I don't want to.

any one know away of turning off the 5ghz wifi ?
i'm tiring to connect to a tractor, it will auto connect every time to the 2.4ghz wifi on my tablet. but i want tyo connect to my phone which is duel band and i can't seem to find a setting to turn 5ghz wifi off
