Google Pixel 9 Series (9/9 Pro/9 Pro XL/9 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 3)

If you have an 8/8 pro then there is literally zero reason to upgrade, cameras are essentially the same, battery is the same, screen is 0.1" bigger on the Pro XL than last year's pro.

The processor is less than 10% quicker than the G3....

Between the minimal changes and this release being mostly about AI which people generally don't care about along with a pretty hefty price increase there's not much incentive to change.

Also next year the chips are rumoured to be much better so I expect most are holding out for them.
Well the big reason coming from a 8 is to be able to get to a pro level phone that's not a two handed jobby, which is a massive thing in my eyes :)

Yeah, but again I feel like it's now down to personal taste rather than quality, certainly for the Samsung, apple and pixel flagships. All using forms of AI to apply certain filters based on there take of what it should look like.

Agreed. They are all really close, none are bad. iPhone video still is top tier.

Carphone Warehouse deal on the 9 Pro Fold looks pretty good actually.

£44.99 per month + £399 up front, 24 month contract.

Get £300 + trade in price back (£180 on my P7Pro) so £480 back + free pixel watch 2, gemini (who cares), fitbit and youtube etc.

Over the 2 years that's £998. Sell the watch and it's even less.

Even more tempted to try the Fold now. Only downside is delivery is Oct :(

Setup the pink pixel 9 and been using all day. Had to pop in the EE store and get a new sim. Moved back to physical one, transferring the esim failed multiple times.

Really liking it so far. The fingerprint reader is so much better and the phone haptics and general snappyness is surprisingly better than the 8. I was not really expecting a noticeable improvement on day to day app switching and use, but it is there.

Well I was so disappointed with the launch pricing, but as time has gone by I've realised that the screen and the fingerprint sensor were things that really bugged me on my P7. And I've always bought the cheaper Pixels, but wanted the Pro features. So decided to go for a 9 Pro despite the two week wait for delivery.

The trade in offer at £334 for a P7 (if they agree when they see it) is about double what I'd get on eBay. Plus a 5% off code through Perkbox, and £95 store credit, and the other bundled stuff means it wouldn't actually cost me as much as I expected. So I went for it.

Looking forward to see if Google has finally pushed the Pixel into the Premium category (to match the pricing).

Where did you order from mate? I'm also tempted for the 9 pro (non xl)

Just chased O2, devices is stuck in 'Processing' stage which apparently is a common problem with their system and requires a manual overrides to progress. ETA 5 working days for a fix :( No new toys for me this weekend it would seem.

My maths can't be right here for a Fold...

£30 upfront
£34.42 p/m for 36 months for the device
£37 p/m for Unlimited data with EE

20% discount on Airtime with BlueLight brings it to £30 p/m for Airtime

Total = £64.42
Trade in any phone with EE and get £26 back per month for 24 months.

Total now = £39 per month for 24 months.
Then from month 25 = £34.42 for the device + any SIM

I've done exactly the same. Have loved my P7 and didn't want a MASSIVE pro handset, so the 9 pro being more or less the same size is really attractive. My main draw is the optical zoom, but a better screen and fingerprint scanner definitely welcome, too!

Trade in value is really good (depending on how much is knocked off for the corner scuffs and the paint having come off a bit on the camera bar... But even so, any value they knock off can only be off the trade in value and not the trade in bonus, right?) and considering I got 20% off my P7 when I bought it then two years of owning the handset is looking to have only cost £150 :D

Definitely interested in the AI. We're looking into it at work for productivity improvements, so having hands on with Gemini advanced is going to be useful.

The carphone warehouse deal I posted a few pages back is still cheaper, you get a free watch too.

I can't see that offer anywhere on the page for the £300 extra trade in.

Also like you said delivery it's not till October but I expect they want the trade in straight away which without a phone!
