Google Pixel 9 Series (9/9 Pro/9 Pro XL/9 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 3)

Well, after dithering and humming and hawing about my next phone, Samsung sent me a 15% off code for my birthday and they also offered me £220 for my Galaxy S20 FE 5G, more than three times the trade in from any online place so I eventually bought a Galaxy S24 128GB (fine for me) for under £500 which is the first time I've ever paid outright for a phone. Sky Mobile wanted a shade under £1k over the contract for the same phone. It arrives tomorrow.

There was a good sale back in May where S24 was £280 with student discount and trade in any old phone.

Pixel 8 pro with trade in is £385 right now at JL.

In a moment of weakness I traded in my s23 ultra for a 9 pro xl - a combination of the additional £200 trade in and the free case and 45w charger from John Lewis swung it. I love it - specs-wise I know it's mostly inferior to the s23 ultra but the overall experience just feels SO much better.

Could you measure how far the charger protrudes from the wall when plugged in at all please? I want to upgrade my 25w charger but have limited space behind my bedside table.

I'm tempted with the regular pro. Using the S23 at the minute which is great, with the exception of some photos (usual Samsung, not being able to capture kids/pets and them becoming a blur)

Might hang fire and see how quickly the price drops

Picked up a good deal on a new sealed in box 9 pro XL on eBay (256gb) unlocked for £819.

Was unwilling to pay the new prices with the price hike even with the special offers, just missed out on a 512gb XL Hazel for £902.

Looks like there is some good deals about .

It's about 3cm - here's a pic of it next to a Samsung turbo-nutter charger thing.

Few reports on Reddit that pixel 9 still getting delayed notifications in Gmail app and other apps. Crazy how they can get away with not sorting this in 2024.

Android is a mess.
Yep. Frustrates the hell out of me.

How is it some apps have no issues (WhatsApp/outlook - majority of the time) but then other apps don't show until I unlock the phone, or just appear randomly an hour or so later?

Gmail always had issues, not just on Pixels but other phones too. No idea why since it's the only app that supports Gmail's push sync.

I haven't came across any delayed notifications with the rest of my usual apps, same as my 6 Pro so far.

No idea why it's infeasible though. Email clients syncing via exchange activesync for Microsoft accounts is pretty much instant as soon as it arrives.

I'm actually finding it better having Gmail syncing via IMAP instead. Granted it's still delayed, but at least I have more control how delayed it is with the IMAP sync rate.

Very tempted to get the fold but on the Google store the dates for delivery for the 512gb porcelain have been constantly changing, couple days ago it was 13th till the 20th and this week the dates have changed to next day delivery.

How reliable are the dates listed on the Google store ? I don't want to place an order and get charged and they suddenly change the delivery date and I end up waiting till end of the month or October
