Google Pixel and Pixel XL

Other than the aforementioned notification issue, I haven't thought that my phone was running slower at all since updating. At first a few of us seem to have bad battery, but the system seems to learn our usage in a day or so so now it's back to how it was.

Merci. Seems notification problems are more about 8.0 in general then, rather than specifically the Nexus or Pixel.

Someone, somewhere posted a guide... which I made a video version of -

It's not a perfect solution, but I'm happy enough with it myself.

Looks good. If I have my exchange account set to push emails on my Nexus, I get a persistent "Gmail is running... Blah blah". Seems like completely redundant information - setting my emails to 15 min sync seemed to make it go away though.

Been given a 4 month old Pixel 128gb. Seems decent! Screen takes some getting used to though, so "vibrant" (aka oversaturated).

It's currently on 7.1.2 April security update, is it worth updating to 8.0?

I slightly regret updating to 8 on my Nexus 5x, as I'm not entirely convinced everything is working as smoothly since(numerous problems with notifications and the annoying "running in background"). But maybe it's better on the better pixel.

I currently have an issue where my XL no longer works with my in car bluetooth for audio since upgrading to 8.0 - calls work fine strangely enough.

I have seen a few reports on Android forums and the like but Google have yet to fix the issue, so just be wary.

I wonder if I reported it would they send me a new XL?? :p

Before I was given this I had been contemplating the 32gb XL from CPW at £450. But then there was the OP5 with student discount for £400 and the Nokia 8 for £500, both of which are much newer.

I'm glad I didn't, as I got this for free and 5" just seems like the perfect size for me - can use the phone entirely one-handed, which I could just about manage comfortably with the 5.2" Nexus, but anything bigger is too much (and isn't pocket sized!).

Guess downside is worse battery than the XL (but it can't be worse than the 5x). It's not exactly a pretty phone either...

Shame, I guess that this Pixel is broken.

Every photo is blurred down the left side, (eg https://ibb.co/b5Zmtk ), or the right side if I flip the phone 180°. Cleaned the lens/sensors, tried with HDR on/off or moving the focus from centre, but nothing seems to have helped. I'm assuming the lens is defective...

Any reason not to get a pixel 128gb? Something reviews would miss but long term users notice. They are starting to drop in value to a more reasonable price.

Considering upgrading from a z5 compact cause it's a powerful hand warmer and 2GB ram aint great.

Same issue with my Pixel after updating. Calls are okay (to an extent...an existing call won't transfer to in-car speakers like it used to on 7), but music is completely broken. Car display just shows 'unknown artist' and won't play back. Very annoying!

The right hand side of my screen is annoying me. It's darker than the left hand side. More noticeable on black backgrounds or when the night light is active.

I'd go through the hassle of RMA but i'm guessing they only have Pixel XL's left judging by the comments above!

I have similar issues with BT. The car takes an age to see the audio, and my Sony soundbar doesn't pair which means I have to use my Samsung tablet which is running Android 7.

It's a bit embarrassing for Google that such a basic and well established technology doesn't function properly in their high end device.

I was told today they only have XLs in stock and cannot offer the standard Pixel. They didn't seem happy that I said I don't want an XL, (I genuinely don't want a phone that large), and have now passed it on to someone more senior. Will see what happens...
