Google Pixel and Pixel XL

Don't blame you. I wouldn't want an XL either. Curious to see what they do.

They came back and said it's an XL or a full refund. So I've pointed out the Google store shows they have 128gb Pixels still in stock - why can't they send one those, as I'd likely use the refund on one anyway.

Anyone using a dbrand skin or can recommend a thin good quality case? I miss my iphone leather case.

If anyone is using dbrand best place to buy and is fitting easy?
I have a dbrand skin on mine (concrete I think it's called), only on the back/sides though. I really like it as it adds grip as well as being a a bit different. I read when researching for mine that the marble for example is quite slippery compared with the concrete which swayed my decision in the end.

Installing was a bit of a faff, you have to use a hair dryer to manipulate the plastic which is a bit nerve racking. It probably took me 20 mins or so to do the back.

I bought it from dbrand direct as I couldn't find anywhere else suitable to buy from really! Took about 10 days to arrive iirc

I mentioned previously about my ongoing Bluetooth issues since the Oreo upgrade, does anyone think if I pushed Google would they RMA my XL (32gb)? I'm happy enough to hold on to mine but if they're handing out 128gb XL's as RMA replacements I certainly would not refuse! Also, what is the best way to go about contacting them? I see a live chat option in the phone's help section, would that be the easiest?

I contacted them through chat, which was quick. The actual RMA process seems to be through email which is very slow... 5 days of correspondence now.

I don't know if you'd get a 128gb as a replacement for a 32gb. I think I was only offered the XL 128gb because my Pixel is 128gb.

I seem to be in stalemate with them, since I don't want a XL...

If you fancy a standard pixel with only 32gb with a cracked screen then I'll happily swap for your new XL ;):D

Hello fellow friend. I've told the 500+ people on the google forums to do the same. Google can't fix it so RMA. That's what I'm doing.
Email me in trust so we can ensure we both get sorted.

Haha. I almost think I'd take a 32gb standard over a 128gb XL!

I just don't get why they can offer me a full refund, but not a new 128 Pixel when they're in stock at the Google store. Surely it costs them the same....

Nope, Google won't budge. Looks like it'll have to be a refund, which is a shame because I like this phone a lot.

I don't think I'll be buying another phone from Google again - as much as I like them. They essentially don't support a model which is less than a year old - they can only give options of refunds or a different model, which is no good if you actually liked the phone. The joke is they're still selling them in their store full price, knowing full well if it goes wrong, they won't offer a replacement.

This is standard for an RMA with them is it not? Just get the refund and spend it on a new phone, surely?

I don't know about Google's standard RMA procedure. But I've never been told by customer service from another company to get a refund and repurchase it, rather than just sending it out in the first place. There's no point buying another, if it goes wrong, it'll just be same again.. I thought companies held back a certain amount of stock in case of RMAs.

Ok cheers dude. Might just get something for the back. Hmm

Weird really. I had an issue with mine which i bought from Currys eBay store. Currys offered a refund, Google said they'd swap it for a brand new device.

Granted this was 2/3 months ago, seems strange they'd give me a brand new replacement for a device that was second hand.

I am disappointed indeed. It takes me ages to find a phone I like, now I have to look again! Decent spec in a 5" format isn't terribly common...

I expect those 2/3 months are crucial. New Pixel is imminent I believe, stocks must be low. Shame they let them get so low they can't even fulfill RMAs :(

I really love the Pixel XL but Google need to fix the bluetooth/Oreo issue. I contacted them via the live chat and they were no help at all, they said I'd have to contact my car manufacturer to see if I can update my car software (which I know I can't). Surely Google have to take the blame somewhere along the line? I even went into CPW today to see if I could bring myself to go back to Samsung with an S8+ but it isn't a patch on the Plain android pixel and I hate the form factor of the new galaxy's. When you're watching a standard 16:9 video you don't gain any real estate at all from the 5.5 Pixel screen.
