** GORGEOUS NEW LG 4K MONITOR - LG 27GN950-B PRE-ORDER NOW **

So I reckon if you play Blu-Rays on this monitor you will get some minor IPS Glow otherwise it’s fine. I didn’t buy the monitor to play Blu-Rays it’s mainly for desktop and gaming use. I challenge you to try some Blu-Rays to prove or disprove my findings.

Didn't try any movies (except a couple of youtube 4k test videos)

As I mentioned anything in the corners (esp the bottom right) in dark scenes was very hard to make out - both test video and games - not something you want in a monitor of this price.

I don’t think your experience of this monitor is the norm, certainly your IPS Glow is a lot worse than mine and I only really get it when playing dark scenes in Blu-Rays. If I display a blank screensaver screen there’s no visible IPS Glow.

I received mine and it has worked fine for a few days and then started to flicker and grainy.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

ocUK must have sold over 100 of these and with two failures that we know about that’s 2% failure rate

there are a few comments in the thread about differences, varying glow, gap around the bezel and a couple outright failures. Builds a picture of poor quality control which is a real shame as I love my LG TV and this monitor when worked had me very pleased. Maybe the price I pay for getting a model like this early in its run.

Anywhoo have requested an RMA but unlikely I'll get a replacement any time soon I guess given stock levels.

I have been using a PG279Q for five years and the itch for 4K has really dig in lately. I’m tempted for this one but haven’t even played once on HDR and I could buy the Acer X27 for 1500€ which I guess has to be a sight to behold. But then I think in all the possible issues (switching modes between games/desktop/movies) and the LG27gn950 seems like an easier, more enjoyable monitor.

I need help. :(

If it helps I went from the PG279Q to this monitor and I'm very happy with the upgrade, assuming you can push it with a decent specced system. I don't watch movies on either screen, only used for work and gaming. The HDR is meh but I don't think that any monitors will compete with OLED in this regard so I am not too hung up on it.
