GPU Hardware Survey - What Are You Running and Why?

Resolution : 1920x1080 or 4680x1080 ( 1280+1920+1280 + bezel correction )

GPU : 290 Tri-X

Because : Don't have the space for 3x24" screens so I went with a 290 due to mixed resolution Eyefinity so I can use 2x17" & 1x24" screens.

Extras: Will switch to NVidia if they ever add mixed resolution Surround support as the games I usually play run better on NV hardware ( unless Dx12 levels that out a bit )

Resolution : 1080p
GPU/GPUs : GTX 970 (KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 OC Silent "Infin8 Black Edition")
Because : At this resolution it was the best model to go for price / performance. Plays everything I throw at it at high to ultra settings :)

As mentioned in the thread title above we are going to create a little survey here at OCUK of what GPU/GPUs you are running and why.

The why I will leave to your own personal preference being it certain games you play, price/performance etc etc anything basically that you feel fits.

I will try to create a pie chart and/or % based informative table or text with each resolution, GPU etc.

Let's leave AMD and Nvidia arguments out of this and generally be polite.

Please state your resolution, GPU model and reason as follows.

Resolution :
GPU/GPUs :
Because :

Thank you in advance.

Why don't you group by gpu and then have sli as a subgroup?
How that list is now is basically unreadable

E.g. There's 15 people with a Titan X setup

Main PC:

Resolution : 5760x1080
GPU/GPUs : R9 290 Crossfire
Because : 2 x GPUs needed due to resolution, bought at launch my budget allowed me 1 x 290X or 780, or 2 x 290's - easy choice.
Extras: Also run a "secondary" monitor at 1920x1080, but don't run games on that (only the main 3).

My LAN PC:

Resolution : 1920x1080
GPU/GPUs : Sapphire R9 285 ITX
Because : Won it in a competition, but would probably have bought one anyway. Same power as the 7950 I had previously, and as quiet as the 7850 I was running before that. Excellent GPU for the SFF case and way overkill for the LAN games I run (I like overkill!)

HTPC:

Resolution : 1920x1080
GPU/GPUs : Intel HD2500
Because : Used exclusively as an HTPC (no gaming) and the Intel is more than up to any 1080p content I've tried.

Other LAN PCs (x5)

Resolution : 1440x900
GPU/GPUs : AMD HD5770
Because : The cards were cheap and can run every game we run at LAN weekends with ease. Was previously running GT440's, which required some settings lowering in games to run smoothly and were SO LOUD (they were the refurb PNY models whose fans run at 100% all the time, by design!)
Extras: Yes, I really have got 5 PCs rocking 5770's and first gen i3's in the loft for when my mates fancy a LAN weekend! :D

Main PC
Resolution : 2560*1440
GPU : 7990
Because : pre ordered a 290 but saw/heard the cooler and decided against it, then the 7990 got a huge price drop. Still runs pretty much everything

HTPC
Resolution : 1920*1080
GPU R9 285
Because : short card and managed to get it for under £100 from here, amazing card

Yeap that was the initial one so I can track easier when adding other member GPU and monitors.

Then I will start grouping as you have mentioned when the thread slows down.

Resolution : 3440x1440
GPU/GPUs : EVGA SC Titan X
Because : Had a 980 and didn't think it would cope at this resolution. Planning to get another Titan X in a couple of months.

Additional to this.

Resolution: 1920x1080
GPU/GPUs: Nvidia 610
Because: HTPC. Only bought the 610 as it had an HDMI socket and no fan. Was using the onboard till I got a new TV for the bedroom.

Resolution: 2048x1152
GPU/GPUs: Nvidia 610
Because: HDMI again. I was using this machine purely to run sickbeard, Sab etc but my Synology NAS does that now so it's off.

Resolution: 1080P

GPU/GPUs: 7990

Because: Easily the best bang for buck card when I bought it two years ago and it was heavily discounted. Incredibly well built with a good looking back plate and good cooler. Still holds its own in nearly everything I throw at it.

Extras: My experience with the card has been really good, I know there has been some crossfire profile issues with the card thanks to AMD but this hasn't affected me as I haven't got round to playing the games that have these issues.

Resolution: 1080P

GPU/GPUs: 680gtx

It still just about acceptably copes with the games i play. 60fps.

ill get a 970 when they go <200

Resolution : 4k and 1440p
GPU/GPUs : 3 x 290p and 780ti Kingpin
Because : Got the 290's at launch. Best card at the time IMO. (got the kingpin at launch... needed a beast single gpu at the time for my side rig)
Extras: 4k @ 40" is absolutely stunning :D

Main rig:
Resolution: 1080p
GPU: GTX 670
Because: The mobo that supported sli died leaving me with an old one that only supports one nvidia card.
Plan to jump resolution up with a new build soon.

Rig 2
Resolution: 1280 x 1024
GPU: GTX 670 (normally a 7870)
Because: The only monitor I had spare was an old syncmaster but it's primarily a rig to store media and play old psx/ps2 roms on so it's fine. GPU is overkill but figured I might as well use the second 670 somewhere.

Resolution: 1080p
GPU: HD 7970
Because: It's what I could afford at the time coupled with an ivybridge i5-3750k. It still does the job of 90% the games I throw at it.

Resolution: 1440p
GPU: HD 7990
Because: I pick and chose my purchases slowly, normally second-hand. I'm old, divorced, paying for private school, a lovely new girlfriend and a mortgage. But I still like good kit.
That's why. :P

Resolution : 1920x1200
GPU/GPUs : Nvidia GTX 780Ti
Because : Perfect balance between performance and resolution, nothing it can't manage at high and ultra settings.
Extras: Will be going to 3440x1440 or 4K in the future once single cards can run them at high and ultra settings, crossing fingers that high end Pascal will do this.

Resolution : 1920 x 1080
GPU/GPUs : 5850
Because : Couldn't justify the expense of upgrading when saving for and purchasing a house.
Extras: Considering the age, it's had considerable legs. Of course there has had to be an even increasing compromise on settings over the years but I've been pretty happy with the mileage it's given me.

Now I've got around to buying and outfitting my house over the last few years I'll be upgrading in the coming month once AMD have shown their cards and the dust settles for a complete system upgrade as well as jumping to 1440P.

Res, 5040*1200
Gpu, 290x reference
Because, was the best card available for the money i had when i had it
Extra's, unlike some i've had nothing but flawless mantle/general driver experience since i've had it. And for the res i use and just an 8150 feeding it it'll do an amazing job of making good high settings at stable framerates.
