GPU prices go boom

I hate to sound selfish but I'd be really happy if the prices shot up and I recoup 90%+ of the value of my GTX1080. Not good for new buyers like I was though.

well i expect the mining boom to come back again!

I'm sat on 4.3 BTC now

Very nice buddy, £30,000 right there, compared to your expenditure on hardware and electricity your well in profit, which when you consider its just a handful of rigs of home, that is very good going indeed. If BTC continues to rise that 30k could be 60k or even 100k in a few months time.

I need to get selling my litecoin stash I've been sitting on for years. :D

That's my plan Gibbo, just sit on them, hope for £30k a coin. Then I will consider selling the coins, until then though I will mine on building up my total.

Never know I could get to 6 BTC when they hit £30k each. That would be nice!

Don't wanna get your hopes up, but the first SVR I looked at to buy and missed out on, I am now mates with the guy who got that car.
He was mining BTC from the start, you know when we were all told to get mining in the office years ago because one day it would be worth a fortune, but we never did, LOL. OK well I did, but only litecoin hence why I've got several hundred of those stashed.

But that guy had 12M worth of crypto, when the values crashed his investment dropped to 7M out which point he took a few million out, purchased some properties, nice cars and party hard.

That could be you in a few years, I am considering throwing a couple Vega 64 in a rig at home and just leaving them to mine 24/7 for next 12-24 months, not got anything to lose really except some electricity cost which with two VEGA 64 running low voltage is not a lot of money in all honesty.

Are you talking about Mr crinkles by any chance? :p

@Gibbo Are we likely to see an increase in Vega price soon and diminishing stocks? Looking at buying a few shortly, proving things pan out.

We've actually been pushing AMD to lower price further, or offer a $100 APA sell out rebate like they did when product was launched, but so far we've had no luck with achieving this, as such our deals are off our own back and the board partners with very little margin for both parties. As such eventually we shall get bored of making low margin on them, reduce the stocks and then just not replenish any more and put prices up.

However if AMD give us the rebate, then those prices could drop another £50 or so, but right now it could go either way, £50 down or £50 up, kind of toss a coin right now. I've got about 500 Vega in stock, so if they do drop another £50 I reckon the stock will last a couple of weeks anyway, so don't panic too much, for those to sell in a matter of hours they would need to go under £500 and AMD won't do that, neither will any board partner as the loss is too much to stomach.

Right now at £599 the sales are just steady, about 10 units a day, so nothing too exciting, though I am seeing it picking up every day because OcUK is only company sub £600 and of course crypto values are improving and as such miners are buying them and we don't restrict AMD stock at all simply because there is no shortage on AMD product any more. :)

Nope, this is a guy I know who lives not too far from me. I went to test drive an SVR, was trying to get it down a few grand, they refused to budge, so when I gave in and agreed to buy it, someone beat me to it. Not end of world as I then found another one in a specification I prefered (more carbon) and got that one.

But via Jaguar forums/social groups I see the car posted and got chatting with him, told him how he beat me to it and asked how he could afford a 100k at like 25, at which point he told me about his mining at home, his value was 12M at one point when crypto maxed, when his value was 7M he cashed a few million out, purchased the SVR, few properties and did some holidays.

But there are quite a few people who have become self made millionaries from mining, I kind of wished I cashed my litecoin out when they were £300+ as that was nearly 1/2 million, now they are £115, but for me I don't view it as real money so I forget about it, but at some point I will cash them out as I've got nearly 700 litecoins, which I mined years ago.

If supply gets poor again, most likely, but right now its an unknown, some GPU's there is plenty of stock on, but other GPU's like 1080Ti and 1070 stocks are really still a struggle.

ETH is still rising, but also the difficulty sucks on it.

But of course there is other coins that still have easy diffilculty, and when ETH rises, all coins rise. So I can see why mining is recovering.
