Hi all,
Come back to play GT7 on my PS5 and seem to be really struggling with most of the PP limited races. I know the PP races are not a new feature as they were in GT6 but I'm struggling to win, AI cars are just flying way ahead of me. I've tried a few different ways to tune car as close to the PP limit and still the same issue.
What do other think? Any tips?
Thanks!
There do seem to be certain races were the AI are miles ahead and it takes a whole race of good qualifying pace laps to catch them and win. As I've played this game more, the more I hate the rolling starts and the 30-40 second spread of cars and you're always at the back... I'd much rather grid starts and all cars with tighter PP for close racing and a more satisfying race!
I don't spend a lot of time tuning personally, I prefer to concentrate on knowing the circuits well for minimum lap time. Having a fast car is great but if you're off constantly off the racing line, braking too early/late or in the gravel traps it's not much use
a 10-15 minute time trial on a circuit you're not familiar with will do wonders keeping your pace up during actual races.
As for tuning, for road cars, I tend to just do some basics like weight reduction, suspension, softer tyres, better brakes and maybe basic engine tuning like air filters, ECUs, exhausts etc to boost BHP for higher speed circuits. Low speed/twisty circuits would probably benefit from low weight, aero, sticky tyres and close gear ratios.
Race cars are a little harder to tune as in their standard form have customisable parts installed already, weight reduction gains will be minimal and you'll be racing cars of similar tune so it's harder to gain advantage. I'd tune based on circuit in these cases. For twisty tracks add downforce, make gear ratios close and choose a car that's as low in weight as possible. Maybe even choose a 4WD car for a twisty circuit for maximum traction on corner exits. High speed circuits are obviously were raw BHP would benefit so a car's weight isn't too much of an issue and choose based on BHP and remove downforce to increase straight line performance.
You probably know all of the above already so probably not much help
which races in particular are you struggling with? Some of them are a real pain and ones I haven't won first time have taken me a few attempts or switching cars to suit circuits better etc. Even just seeing what the fastest AI are driving can help win the races. I definitely think you're sometimes racing AI that have a big advantage in some way either due to low weight, BHP or the tyres the car has installed as standard.
Is it possible to view the duplicate cars you have? I just wasted 500k on a vehicle in the Legend Cars because the little blue 'acquired' icon wasn't showing
(and still isn't), so I bought a car I'd got months ago. There was talk of being able to sell cars, too. Hopefully, they will bring this in.
Not that I'm aware of? I can only suggest to view your garage and sort by manufacturer to see if you have multiple listed that way. Is the 'acquired' icon missing a known bug? I've not encountered it yet personally.
There's plenty of talk (or moaning
) about how they haven't yet added the feature to sell cars. It's not a feature I'm bothered about really but can see why it would be good to gain some credits back for cars you don't want or use.
