Gran Turismo PSP

The game feels really, really show for me, when taking tight corners at 40 it should feel pretty fast but it seems like I am doing 5-10 mph, if that.

The cars seem to not respond at all or respond too much, Sometimes you can be taking a corner and hoping it will turn but it just goes forward and then other times you will try a slight adjust on a straight and spin out

It looks pretty good for a psp game, I will give it that but it really is lacking something special that all the other GT games have had, guess it will be on on the go but only for the odd race,

Can't see me playing it much at all.

Understeer due to taking the corner too fast, presumably? If you've played GT 3 or 4 on the PS2 I would've thought you'd be used to the handling model, assuming the PSP version is the same.

I played them all but since have been spoiled with the likes of forza and being old enough to actually drive, GT actually feels so wrong now

It probably is understeer on the corners but it feels so slow that it shouldn't happen but the speedo says 40mph

Just checking but have you changed the handling mode to 'professional' in the options menu? It can make quite a difference.

I have been having a bit of fun tryng to beat myself around the cote d'azure track in the little Pug 106 GTI (It has a different name in the game).

Despite the lack of career mode and the STUPID dealership design I am enjoying the game so far.

Having got a bit further into the game I am a little dissapointed with the graphics. Yes I know this will never match GT4 but some tracks are just terrible (some are good to be fair). I would have preffered a consistant (very important) 30fps with higher quality textures and more overall detail.

I was looking forward to his game, even considered buying a PSP specifically for it, but after reading what you've all said and some reviews, I've changed my mind. I was 'expecting' it to be basically like GT4 but portable based on the original videos and info, it would seem this is not the case though in the end.

GT5 is so ridiculously delayed that the PS3 will probably be about to be replaced by the time it does arrive, I bought my PS3 for 3 main reasons (about 18 months ago now) ...firstly to use a media hub, to stream media to (I have an HTPC now so this is irrelevant anyway, I always found the lack of native MKV support infuriating) secondly, as a blue ray player (still use it for this of course, although I don't have many BR's since they are generally more expensive than I would like, I don't watch many films, I'm more of a TV series person, I find films too short and lacking depth, generally) and finally, for Gran Turrismo 5, which still isn't here :( ...yet when I purchased my PS3 I understood it to be out March 2009.

Here's my view peeps...

I've been playing the game quite a bit of the weekend and so far love it......yes the graphics can look a bit jagged on some course's with the very annoying white tears popping up from time to time....but come on its a PSP!! overall i believe the game looks really nice, plays great (just how GT should) and the soundtrack suits the game well, plus you can use your own mp3's. I actually like the dealership design......... why i hear you cry?????? because it forces you to race, collect, trade or do whatever it takes to get your favourite car's e.g pokemon style, you can earn credits far to easy for them to give you all the cars for the picking. Plus the emphasis is on collecting cars.......trying to collect all 800 (notice you cant sell cars). I reckon Sony wanted to launch GT5 alongside GT-PSP this being the reason for no career mode and only quick races with the mobile Ad-hoc multiplayer being the strong point, its just a shame this did'nt happen and now it seems people cant look past this fact when judging the game.

If you liked any of the previous gran turismo games go out and buy and ignore reviews as your really missing out, and oh my lordy its £18 in some places, I spend more than that on a typical sat night. ;)

I can't play it if I can't sell cars, I'm a quite obsessive about keeping my garage tidy, and that means keeping the cars I have to a tidy and speacial few, I'd hate it if I just had every piece of junk I used collecting dust in there, and scraping cars always makes me flinch.

Not a lot of people responding as you can't play it with 5.00 M33 CFW

Some guy in here has just paraded it to me, he's a black bearded parrot loving kind of guy...

I just picked it up second hand for £12 off the forums, has arrived at home, so will be checking it out tonight..

Not sure how 'precision' driving will be with the nub, not liked it on other games, but you never know.. I did like the sound of using a DS3 on the PSP GO, but when I have £200 to spare I'll be getting another PS3..

For fun this weekend I did exactly this, connected my PS3 pad and connected the PSP Go to my Plasma (I bought the composite cables for max compatibility, thinking it would be cool to use when staying with family etc). And it's a lot of fun playing GT:PSP on a 42" Plasma! It does make it look slightly more ropey, but that doesn't ditract from the qulaity of the racing.

Agree about the lack of a sense of speed. It's not really got me hooked playing it yet. Dislike having to keep checking which dealerships are open at any particular time.

For pick up and play racing, I prefer burnout or outrun type games I think. The analogue nub isn't up to it IMO.

I'm sure I'll get into it more, but at the moment I'm underwhelmed.

"Not a lot of people responding as you can't play it with 5.00 M33 CFW"

Not true there is an updated version that works. Someone at work had it on their PSP and they had M33 5.00. I had a quick go and quite liked it though i get what people are saying about sense of speed.

Tried it yesterday, started by buying a Nissan R34 and raced two races, won them easily, I then did the license tests, earned over a million, bought a Zonda racecar, raced that and now have no more incentive to keep earning money or play the game.

Why buy a Diahatsu materia and race that crappy car when I have a Zonda?

And why are the cars really old, still Mitsubishi Evo V's, it looks like it's the same cars as GT4, 500k for a Mazda 6 concept when the Mazda 6 has been out for years
