The mission will be triggered by a phone call at some point, Playboy X rings and asks if you've done it yet or something along those lines.
Kate is an important character in the overall story of the game, so I wouldn't think it would punish you for not bothering with her (Since the game isn't likely to allow itself to 'break'). As much as the game forces you to as the bare minimum should be enough to advance.

Ah ok, thanks for that, I was just getting a bit worried 'cos I seem to of got further in the missions without killing Playboy than most people seem to.
im having trouble with the mission where you park the lorry accross the road (tunnel) and have to steal the van with matey in it and get away from the 3 stars!

Go down block them in, kill everyone protecting the van. Drive the van away dont worry too much about trying to get away from 3 stars as it is very easy to get away this time round.
Does anyone else find that during missions it can be easier to get away from the police?
i got away with the van, but there still seems to be police everywhere they keep raming me, causing the car to stop

I found if you cut through the gap into the other tunnel you can avoid most of the police quite easily.
I managed to trigger of faster by giving Playboy X a ring.

The second I got out of X's place, I rang Dwayne, then rang X and then the game asked me to make the choice.

This Ruff Rider mission is doing my head in!!!!
Does the git you are chasing eventually stop somewhere if you just follow him at a distance, taking your time or do you have to shoot him off the bike?.
Also, when on the bike following him, is there a button on the 360 controller that you can use to "auto aim" and target him ( same as you can do on foot ) or do you have to manually aim at him.
I'm rubbish at manually aiming, couldn't hit a cow on the backside with a banjo!!!

yes, if you stay close enough to not fail, but not drive like a loon, he does slow down eventually. I got him whilst stood still at red lights in Bohan !!! i followed him for that long he got that far. I think i chased up all the way up and down Algonquin before i caught up with him.

Yeah, it seems like it is just the luck of the draw whether he slows down or stops at all.
Just getting frustrated at the constant mission re-tries on this one.
I've tried forgetting about chasing him on a bike and hijacking a car to follow him in, but so far, it seems like you don't get enough time to do that when the mission starts.
The wall in my living room has a huge head shaped dent in it from me banging it off the thing.

For the "Clean the streets" or whatever its called achievement. It says you need to capture 20 criminals via the police computer. Capture as in actually get them in the car alive? I have just been killing them through the "Most Wanted" bit on the police computer and have done more than 20 and not got the achievement.

its not the most wanted ones, its the other ones i think, current crimes.
I see. Dont think i have done many of them. Although the ones i have done involve killing and not "capturing". Guess it means the same thing

most wanted are more fun, get to see parts of the map you dont in the story missions.
