I prefer the driving in this game to previous ones. Makes it WAY more realistic, the graphics arnt the best but then im not a graphics person, its all about the game play.
 
GTA IV is video gaming at its finest. It is the first true masterpiece of the next generation. Perhaps this is the point next gen becomes current gen.

People who dont like gta games are traditionally lazy gamers who want the whole thing laid out infront of them, they wont make the effort to discover things themselves. They think the game is about one thing, you know just give me the gun and let me gun down waves and waves of enemies.

If you think GTA is a bad game then maybe its time you give up gaming or accept your growing out of it or something.

Respectively, the graphics are amazing for the scale of the game.

GTA Graphics can't be compared to next gen stuff like Crysis :p
 
I have a feeling that the freezing in the PS3 version is caused by being connected to the PS Network.

First time I played the game I wasn't connected to the PSN after having some issues with my internet in general. I must have played the game for a good 5 hours or so with absolutely no freezing or stuttering at all.

Loaded it back up later and PSN was connected, and the game just generally felt slower and started stuttering in places (2 second freezes at random points.)

Can a few people turn off their connection to the PSN to at least test this theory?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but like I said it's the only thing that changed between the two gaming sessions I had yesterday.
 
What would be nice if you could free-look with the right analogue stick, I find myself trying to do that a lot and just end up fighting the camera :(

Well I don't think it's the autosaves that are doing it as I first thought. Second thought was that the PS3 might be overheating, after all mine was on 12 hours yesterday and the fans never kicked in to their highest to cool it down. (Fault with fans or maybe not overheating at all?)

I've now disabled my Internet connection in the PS3 Network Settings. Been playing for about an hour. So far, so good.

i played all last night disconnected as i couldnt get on multiplayer [assume high network use]. so i cracked on with single player
i didnt want any game invites whilst on single player etc so i turned off my router

game ran fine

havent tried it connected to psn though

I knew someone would bring this up, firstly only an idiot would compare it to Crysis etc... I compared it to Burnout Paradise; a game that has a massive enviroment like GTA. And looks imo 10x better
 
Well...post man just been and my bro's copy still has not arrived today...sucks as i am now lending him mine..Just spoke to the company with the ladders on and it turns out they did not ship till Monday.! even though they sent a dispatched msg on the Friday.. the person on the phone said i could take up to 5 working days?? Well i think in future for these big releases they never seem to send out earlie, so to the shops it is !!!
 
Another great thing I have discovered that is better than previous versions, you can hit a cop car and not get stars for it, and not just a glance, I managed to sideswipe one and nothing happened, not sure if they were in the car or not though... :)

Makes a great change, I used to hate it when you just lightly tapped them and you had them chasing you.. :(
 
Only thing I am not liking so far is the camera view on the car. As said before, if you turn sharply it doesn't follow, you have to use the right analog stick to follow.

Can you buy houses later on in the game?

I have Standard mode enabled and then enabled Dynamic and then movie and there is still no difference it just makes the settings brighter and darker....

Doesnt change the edges looking pap and the textures looking crap. I then put my 360 on and the edge are all so smooth and the textures look well nice!

Even on multiplayer (graphics meant to be downgraded) it looks better than the ps3...

Im gutted i thought the PS3 would look better even though i prefer my 360 for gaming etc....
