*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

No it doesn't it runs at 640p. Upscaling doesn't mean anything.

if the ps3 is outputting 1080p then thats what my tv is receiving. it makes no difference if the game is internally rendered at 640p and doubled - gt4: p does the same and the output remains nice and sharp. this isnt about the detail its that looking through frosty glass issue i was talking about. im certain they could have done a better job without causing other issues.

this is how it should be looking http://homepage.ntlworld.com/james.miller700/gta/IMG_1831_1600_sharp.jpg
compare that to the original http://homepage.ntlworld.com/james.miller700/gta/IMG_1831_1600.jpg

obviously thats only using a bit of sharpening on the image, but thats how i think it should look and its much easyier on the eye even if the jaggies are more apparent.

i must stress its all just a bit of fun:p

I think the blur problem is down to a depth of field effect, be nice if you could disable it in options

Just takes a bit of time to get used to thats all, especially if you're used to pc gaming at high resolutions and framerates

Voice Talent

Not sure whether to put this in here or start a fresh thread...

Is it me or have Rockstar not used well known actors for the main characters this time round? Though a couple of the female voices sound familiar (one sounds like Marisa Tomei or Debbie Mazar and the other the dame who played Dory the fish in Finding Nemo), the game manual does not indicate this to be the case.

Or have Rockstar used pseudonyms?

I think the graphics are great.

Its just the dam car camera angles that annoy me. Keep having to use the right stick all the time.
I was annoyed by the angles when I was cornering, but realised it was mean either pushing forward or back on the left stick as I was turning by mistake. Annoying, but possible to correct in time.

I think the 'out of focus' backgrounds are a clever fix from R*. Would much rather have this than the fog seen in previous GTA's.

Also I don't think it's fair compairing SA on PC to IV on consoles. When IV comes out on PC then do a comparison shot as I'm sure it will be a lot better.

Knowing Rockstar, a lot of the issues currently presented will be dealt with in future patches me thinks.

Brilliant dev house tbh.

I have to disagree,

This game not working for a lot of people is sloppy, very sloppy.

We're console gamers, not PC gamers, patches mean games are rushed with the idea, oh if its broke, we'll patch it within a month.

I was playing nearly all day yesterday but am back at work suffering serious withdrawl symptoms today.

I've noticed a little pop up and my 360 froze once but other than that I absolutley love it. Shame I have to "share" the tv with the rest of my family though. I could move the 360 upstairs but it would not be the same on the Dell 24" and crap sound as downstairs on the Pioneer 50inch and 6.1 Dolby Digital sound :D

After spending ~8 hours on this game I can safely say I love it. The graphics, for such a large game, are great. The car handling, after getting used to it, are much better and more realistic. The story line is fabulous and it is starting to get quite spiced up now I am 16% done and the voice acting is spot on.
