*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

It's quite awe inspiring when you can get to the middle island, Algonquin and can take a subway downtown. When you emerge out of the tunnel in amongst the skyscrapers. Wow!

Anybody else find the shooting and cover system really counter-intuitive and clunky?

1, Often you will still take damage behind cover.
2, If you think you are close enough to the edge to blind-fire, really you aren't, means wasting time repositioning.
3, The look-sensitivty on the right-stick is stupidly slow, even when set to high.
4, Movement in general is akward around objects.
5, Trying to throw molotov cocktails crouched behind objects fails misrerably.

Dear god yes, i was just about to make a post about this, the aiming system can suck at times, won't auto aim if they are close...
Again moving from object to object is slow, the fact i have to press about 10 buttons to sprint after using something like the AK aint to good when trying to get away...
No running while on the phone...i can run and talk on the phone, no talking on the phone and getting in a car, yet you can drive with one...
/rant got a bit angry over one of the mission earlier.

I haven't found myself using the cover system as much as I thought I would.

I like the targetting, it is a step in the right direction but it definitely needs work for the next GTA game

Sorry to change the subject,
does anyone know if there is anyway of driving a full on lorry? cos there's loads of the container things lying about. Haven't really managed to try reversing into one with a jugernaut yet.
Cheers,
Jim

Agreed, it's the one big flaw I've found in this game. If enemies are too close to you while your behind cover, you cant aim at them and you dont have time to come out of cover and shoot them.

I seem to be having a little bit of an issue..

I bought the Collecters edition today, along with a 40gb PS3.. and I seem to be getting slight freezing in gameplay every few seconds.. i'm just trying to re-install it now.. any other ideas?

Someone mentioned something to do with auto sign-in being on. Try turning it off.

Also, PS3 owners have mentioned something to do with the game taking about 30 minutes before the game becomes smooth.

I just got home and my special edition ps3 version has turned up even though the company said it had cancelled due to my card. I have checked my and the money has gone out as well how strange now I have both versions.

anyway back on topic I love the fact that if you crash in to the water during a mission with a passanger then they swim behind you as well instead of just drowning.

Can you turn off auto aim? Dont have the game yet but plan on getting it ofc, though auto aim is a feature i hate personally
