*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

The guy from Rockstar stated both consoles render differently and I believe he said that the PS3 was smoother and the Xbox360 more defined.

I said at the time, partly tongue in cheek, that that's code for PS3 = Blurry and Xbox360 = Sharp, but I really can't believe the difference looking at those that James quoted. That's quite a big difference.

The guy from Rockstar said he preferred the way the PS3 renders GTAIV, can't help but think that was perhaps to try and sell copies. Either way, both look good though.

640p? I didn't know such a res existed. How come it's not 720p? And with it being lower does that mean the framerate is slightly higher than the 360, or not as the 360 has better gfx card correct?

I've heard more complaints for PS3 owners regarding framerates than Xbox360 ones. I own the latter and I saw one dip in an outrageous pileup where I flew over a hill, hit a few cars, few pedestrians, a hydrant and some lampposts. It stuttered for a split second, then continued as normal. Incredibly how Rockstar have managed it.

Does make me wonder what Saints Row 2 will be like though! :o

In relation to the res, it doesn't matter. Call of Duty 4 was one of those odd resolutions and it's one of the best looking games on either console.

I can understand games having bugs on release, it's hard to release something perfect, certainly something of the scale of GTA4, but something like having to disable your PSN connection on PS3 is pretty unforgivable.

Some of the fixes I've seen posted I can genuinely say I thought it was a hoax.

On another forum I visit its quite the opposite, but they are very much a bunch of "lol Sony"-ers.

I'm talking console bundles, not just versions of the game.
People buying the game are getting more 360 versions, which seems to have been the case at all midnight launches (certainly was with mine!), but those buying a console+GTAIV bundle do seem to get the PS3 one.
