***Grand Theft Auto VI***

Doubt they will this time as they've reached out and are working with the GTA RP devs etc (this requires the PC version)
I'm hoping that might be one benefit of the online focus, in that it's worth letting PC players, streamers, youtubers etc get up and running on the PC version quickly.

I'm not interested in the online features, but at least it's a reason to do a PC release earlier.

I don't do consoles, played all the series but waited for PC version, it originated on PC, I don't know why they decided to move to console first scenario, it sucks.

I also have no interest in online play so I hope to expect a really decent single player campaign. The problem is they have made millions from the online side of the game as well so you all know what that means.

Perhaps quicker to develop for and easier to optimise, consoles are where the money is.

It does but there are far more people who play games on console so as a business, they've gone where the money is.
Yeh despite the online PC stuff Rockstar would be potentially be losing millions if they don't postpone the PC release.

So on that basis, I don't expect it to come out with the consoles.

Reckon 6 months to the Rockstar club and a further 3 months to Steam.

Hope I'm wrong!

It feels like this is less of a thing now that the consoles are basically just mini PCs.

I really hope the PC version comes out at the same time this time around.

I hope you're wrong too :D GTA V was Sept 2013 on console and April 2015 for PC. A lot's changed in 10 years though so maybe development across multi platform is easier.

I hope so.

I never pre-order and normally always wait for sales and the like.

Main issue with this one is there will be storyline leaks all over social media so it will be incredibly difficult to avoid spoilers.

The plot was interesting on GTA 5, as were so some of the antics of some of the side quests and that.

I hope they get the launcher better than COD.

The whole Rockstar games launcher was what made me stop playing the GTA series, which I loved from GTA 1. Whatever happened to the good old days of double clicking exe and the program/game running?

The internet happened. Same reason games are always released in a broken/rubbish state ("oh its ok , just release it and fix it throughout the next year").

The internet does have its postives, but jesus has it totally ruined many, many things.

it will be interesting to see how far they have come from the Alpha leaks. Take unreal engine 5 that it's hard to differ between what looks real and what doesn't. GTA6 will need to be really ground-breaking as GTA V is really dated (unless there are mods). I think people will be pleasantly surprised and have access to every apartment/ building apart from massive sky-scrapers.

I'm excited for this.

I owe a lot to the GTA series in a way, even have a wheel in GTAV named after me thanks to a sneaky dev (Duper 7).

It gave me my first taste of modding, creating cars for GTA1 and through that I was on my first forums (Gouranga/G!/GTAzz and also GTAForums). At the time people were creating allsorts of characterful websites of their own, some via Geocities (those were the good old days) which is where I started learning more about web design & development making my own; It's now my career. I moved onto the 3D games and modding those and stayed a part of the community well into the GTA IV years. Those are some of my best online and gaming memories right there. The community, the games, learning new skills.

GTAV was amazing as a single player game, I loved it. I couldn't get on with the online aspect however. 15 year old me would have loved it, but even in my late 20s I couldn't be bothered with it after a short while so now I feel out of touch. I haven't bothered with the community for years too. Guess I got old!

But, R* product quality games. I absolutely love the atmosphere, scale, attention to detail and most of all the sense of humour. They have their quirks but that's all part of the charm. I'm hoping for a huge rich world yet again, but I hope they don't fall too far down the playing-it-safe hole becasue it's 2023 and everyone is delicate.

They have been releasing it on consoles first since Vice City 21 years ago.
Seeing the lack of interest in PC now, I expect them to continue to do so.
PC is not monetised enough for R* ie, No Expanded and Enhanced version release on PC (even though it was on the original press release) and no GTA+ with all the benefits (LOL) that brings. Cheaters have changed their enthusiasm for the PC game.
Buying FiveM was IMO more a way of control after it has maintained GTAV being the most monthly viewed game on Twitch for years thanks to to RP. I don't see anything good coming from them owning the IP.

The structure of the team has changed as well. I have no idea who will have written it this time. Dan Houser left in 2020 (really 2019) and of course, Leslie Benzies was booted in 2016 and was key to most of the GTA releases.

Personally, I don't think it will be an initial release with the consoles. It would make financial sense to do exactly what they did with GTAV. Get a current-gen release, wait a year or so, get double dippers on the next-gen consoles in 2026 say and then PC after that.

Also, I keep seeing people mention UE5. I am pretty sure they will stick with RAGE unless someone knows any different.

I don't think UE5 would be up to the scale and quality of what GTA will demand of it quite frankly, not to mention UE5 is much younger than the games development for it to even be considered. It'll be RAGE 9 or whatever it's up to these days, meaning they can develop it and the tooling only for this style of game reducing a lot of overhead. Plus, they would give away plenty of revenue if sales are as big as V. Better to keep it in-house than pay royalties to Epic or anyone else.

To be honest Rockstar's engines tend to **** on most others anyway.

I mean how many games can execute the immersiveness of something like RDR2?
