Graphics Card Warranties (UK Only) - Let's see how good they really are!

I think it's ridiculous that ANY company could have plenty of stock which clearly wasn't in danger of goin out of stock any time soon and them not offering a replacement from their stock.

I suppose one of the issues is that warranty replacements aren't always full retail products and aren't always even new (refurbishments).

If the retailer sent out a replacement from their stock what do they do if they get a "brown box"/refurbished replacement from the manufacturer?

True :(
All te products I've ever gotten from OcUK RMA have been new though

I probably would know.

If I ever did buy a pre-built OC I'd be over it with a fine toothed comb to make sure I'd got what I paid for.

How would you know?

The idea of a refurbishment is that you don't :p

If anything, it'll e better than anew one as all te faults have been thoroughly checked!

I'm sure it's difficult to get a refurbishment perfectly as new.
tell that to apple :p

There'll quite often be tell tale marks or scratches on the casing etc.
less often than you'd think

There may be dates of manufacture on the card.
fine, you win on that one :(

If it's there to find I'd find it ;)

Even if you got an old card, if it worked as new and had the same warranty, why not jst accept it?

FWIW it's actually illegal to sell a product as new if it's been open or used.

Hence why Fleabay has that "new other" rubbish. It's either new or not, but fleabay make their own rules as they go along it seems.

What happend to the 3 year warranty of the Sapphire HD7970?

This.

I questioned this also, OC had it 3 years few months back but the sapphire website also says 2 years which leads me to believe it was always this or recently been changed.

Hmm because of this subjective list i've kind of changed my mind. I was intent on getting a MSI/Asus 7970 but it seems the gigabyte 7970 OC WF is a good choice, and its current under £390 elsewhere.

How good are gigabyte RMA, anyone have any experience?

I brought a camera and video camera that was refurbed. I studied and studied and couldn't see anything that was marked or scratched. They are still going strong well past 2 years.

The price was so much cheaper than 'shiny new' I couldn't resist and glad I got them.

Strange. I live in Denmark so I asked a certain german dealer if the 3 year sapphire warranty that I noticed at OCUk, also applied to their products and they said yes
