In the context of the game thats a poor decision to send the lad off. Surely the ref would have shown some discretion in the past and just awarded the pen as punishment enough.
But Luiz got sent off for the same thing earlier. Consistency is imperative, regardless of the match situation
 
The red card(s) have obviously contributed but I've never known a side to swing from extreme to extreme quite like Southampton. They're a team that when they're playing well can almost go toe to toe with the best sides and cause them serious problems and then there are times where they look like the worst side in the League.
 
Not the first time Soton collapses after a player is sent off early. You'd thought they'd learn from their mistakes :rolleyes:
They're not a team used to sitting deep and defending. They're a side that play on the front foot, looking to press and attack the opposition. It's served them well but at times like these they can really be found wanting.
