Greenlizard0 PL Football Thread Final Day ** spoilers ** [26th July 2020]

Where would Zaha even go now? United don’t need him anymore or the other top three. No chance they’ll get anywhere near the 70mil touted last summer.

He isn’t a Rodgers player either so can’t see him at Leicester.

He’ll end up at Everton and do an Iwobi.

He wanted to go last summer too, the problem is still who pays the massive fee Palace are going to demand?

Palace wont even get close to the figures of last year. He's done naff all and with covid etc I'd be suprised at 30mil

And this is the issue because Palace aren't selling him for £30m. Even with Zaha, Palace go into next season with one aim and that's to avoid relegation. As good a season as Palace have had, they've still only finished 9 points above the relegation zone. I've not looked in any detail but I'd be shocked if Zaha hadn't been pivotal to Palace winning at least 9 points this season. He might not have had his best season but he's still Palace's best player and their side is built around him.

Zaha could very easily be the difference between Palace finishing a comfortable 12-15th or being in a relegation battle next season. You only have to look at what happened to Villa when they lost Benteke to see the risks your Palace's of this world face in selling their best player.

edit: and the above is the same reason why Villa will demand mental money for Grealish too.

I think it will take another week for my heart rate to return to normal.

What were we, seven points from safety with four to play? I had totally given up hope. Then I was convinced the whole thing was just set up to rekindle my hope only to extinguish it again in the cruelest way.

Hopefully some more focused summer recruitment this time around!

It's how we do things at Villa Park!! Bookies had us at 1/50 to be relegated before the Palace game, I thought we were dead and buried. Still can't believe we're up.

WTF is the standard of refereeing in the playoff game?

Ref just booked Brewster for diving after his teammate did dive and it looked like the keeper did bring Brewster down.

Ole has really grown as a manager this season. I know a lot do not like him here but cannot wait for next season.

It reminds me a lot like Klopp really in the first season in the amount he expects from his players. The high energy Ole wants from his players will require work as it was obvious in the past two weeks that the players were knackered but it will come with time and expanding the squad is only going to help. Now is going to be very important getting the right players in as you will not be able to rest players with champions league football.

I'm not sure I buy that. He has the same points total as last season despite spending 200 mil and those record breaking 14 penalties have gone a long way. I think there's been a lot of paper over cracks personally.

Get in the bin! In Klopp's first full season we picked up 76 points, a clear improvement over his half season before and done so spending very little. Utd's results this season have actually been worse than they were in the 21 games under Ole last season and that was after spending a fortune.

I’m in agreement. You cannot seriously compare Ole to Klopp at all. Ole just seems to wing it, there doesn’t seem to be any management there. Seems to be chance if the players turn up on the day.
