Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 6th January 2025]

Decent game to watch that. Happy with some of our play, despite his goal, Amad was on the periphery of the game for most of it. Ugarte getting better week by week. Bruno Player of the match for me.

I was happy with that performance, Ugarte, Fernandes, Martinez, Mainoo and Amad were particularly impressive. In fact, I felt Dalot had a decent game too.

I'm surprised we scored two considering how uncreative we've been for a while now. Although I think Liverpool helped us out defensively today.

Me too. More players played to the level required and at the level they are capable of. Much better an you hope it gives them some belief that if they put the work in then they will get rewarded. Ugarte key, Mainoo improving. Dalot more effective ( vs Trent). Everyone contributed so it felt like a team performance. I'm not happy with a couple of them but lets leave it at that and not sour what was a good performance and an acceptable result. Well done lads. NOW BACK IT UP.

I think this is bang on. United were better than they've been for a long time, and Liverpool weren't quite at it. Part of that is because United's midfield were good, part of it a because Liverpool weren't great - United's midfield being good doesn't absolve Trent, for example.

A one legged donkey would have beaten Trent today
He was shocking. Often I think he deserves a bit of leeway - he will get caught up the pitch sometimes because he's such an attacking full back, and that's on the manager for choosing him over a more regular full back.

But today, he was being given the runaround by a left footed right back, whether or not he was in position. His passing was poor - he gave the ball away for their second, and many times more. He was atrocious.

Liverpool are never outplayed, if they don’t win it’s because they played poorly. It’s never the opposition playing well.
How do you get never outplayed from my post? Utd played better, it was their cup final so treated it like one. Liverpool played their worst game of the season, did Utd cause it? maybe in some parts but mostly down to the right side of Liverpool being hopeless.

The cup final comment works both ways though in this fixture. It's normally difficult regardless of form.

I'm glad Bruno mentioned the Southampton game, this sort of performance means nothing if we look crap again. Reasons to be hopeful though...

I said it after the City game on here before but at least Bruno is saying it now.

It all well and good getting motivated for big games I think that easy it turning up week in and week out.

If we lose our next prem game to Southampton what's the point.
