Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10 - 11th November 2012]

I think the whole victim thing is more a case of Liverpool fans taking offence at something - out of context - rather than the person making the comments referencing Hillsborough. That's certainly the impression I get in most cases....

Loki touched on it earlier. The reason why the victim stuff is brought up is because people know it touches a nerve and we know the reason why it does is because historically it was used by certain clubs supporters in reference to Hillsborough.

We only have to bring up Ferdinand's 8 month drugs ban or Evra's 4 game to get a **** storm of complaining from Utd fans. We have constant crap about game raisers and abu, and specifically on here, accusations of trolling any time someone says something certain Utd fans don't like. Yet despite all that, I can't recall constant victim comments from other clubs in the same way that as soon as a Liverpool fan complains about a decision etc, we get from the same few clowns.

That is a ridiculous assumption to make.

It's really not. It's the same couple of people (on here) that keep coming out with the victim crap and you only have to look over there posts to see that they're pathetically trying to wind people up.

More generally, it comes from Utd fans and lets not pretend that these chants aren't an attempt to wind-up/score points.

Well I can say for certain that if I ever accuse a Liverpool fan of having a victim complex (and I probably have at some point) It will have absolutely nothing to do with Hillsborough, it will have nothing to do with whether I feel it will touch a nerve, it will be because they've got a serious case of the poor me's. You can't just lay claim to a word and automatically attach it to an incident in the past.

I've not seen you constantly bringing the victim tag up every other post so that's not an issue.

If an individual is constantly complaining to the point where you think they have a victim complex, that's different to the generic nonsense that's spouted by a certain few people on here whenever any Liverpool fan mentions anything from a poor decision from an official to Suarez's ban. If everybody followed that line of thought then the same accusations would be made against nigh on every clubs supporters on here.

When it's the same generalised rubbish from the same people and it's blatantly obviously they're trying to wind people up, I see no issue attaching it to Hillsborough because the only reason why a Liverpool fan would get wound up. edit: Especially when you look at what they said re Hillsborough and/or their views on Liverpool supporters complaining about the injustice of Hillsborough.

If you're directing that at me Baz then read my original post in the thread. It wasn't even a criticism of Liverpool, yet newbie starting coming out with a load of rubbish comparing Liverpool to other clubs as if to say "Liverpool aren't the only ones, xyz club does it too". Taking the stance automatically that someone is out to have a dig smacks of victim complex I'm afraid. The other problem is that once one of you starts, the others blindly follow, and you turn into the three scousers from the Harry Enfield sketch.

When chanting about Hillsborough was brought up by me in the Hillsborough thread and I made it very clear in several posts that it wasn't a criticism of Utd or it's fans as a whole, what was your response grimm? Liverpool fans singing about Munich. Sound very similar to:

... "Liverpool aren't the only ones, xyz club does it too"....

By your own definition you've got a victim complex. You're obviously a hypocrite too.

Again you're taking what I post out of context.

My comment about chants was a throwaway one, it's not personal to me and I'm not offended by it. I just thought I'd throw it out there that Liverpool aren't the only ones who are on the receiving end of inappropriate chants. Munich is the obvious comparable as there aren't really many football disasters where people have died. If it was a race related chant obviously I would have chosen a different comparable.

I don't really know why you always dredge up months old comments from me either. Do you have a shrine to me in your house with all my posts on it? ;)

Just leave the discussion in the thread that it was meant for and stop taking it so personally. You obviously have a personal issue with me otherwise you wouldn't keep namedropping me and dredging up stuff I posted months ago.

So Newbie has a victim complex for saying Liverpool aren't the only side to rely on a player but you're just throwing it out there when you say x aren't the only side to... Right :o

I wouldn't name drop you if you didn't post what you did.

But how is that relevant to my actual point, which is why the hell weren't the rest of the Liverpool team celebrating Suarez's goal with him? That was completely ignored and you all decided to go off on one about Suarez carrying you as if that's somehow derogatory?

If any other star player had scored and nobody celebrated with him I would have made exactly the same comment. I can't really think of a player/team that is being carried to a similar degree at the moment by one player though. Fletcher for Sunderland maybe? Although he isn't scoring regularly really. I can't even remember seeing a situation like that Suarez one though where nobody went to celebrate with him, which is what prompted me to post. Genuinely did feel sorry for him.

You forgot the "n.b. I'm not talking about Hillsborough or Heysel", that would have sorted you out. Glad I moved to Manchester because "Location: Sheffield n.b. this is not a Hillsborough reference" wouldn't fit in the box.
