Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 14th Feb 2012]

The most stupid part of it I find that if you take away any players names/clubs with this and the Terry incident and just think about how poorly both incidents have been handled on the whole it's not really going to install confidence for players to speak up in the future.

I said this a while back.

These two incidents have damaged Liverpool and English football.

Jamie Mackie's second goal, beautiful finish.

This.

What I would say is I find the whole situation a bit comical now. Suarez apparently racially abuses Evra and a few people are in uproar and want him banned. Suarez doesn't shake his hand and the whole country unites and wants him thrown out of Liverpool. Could understand it if it was the other way around but a handshake? :o

Again, its ANOTHER thing that makes people hate Suarez, he's running a ridiculously close second to Diouf in most unpleasant players in the UK at the moment, but Suarez is the only one actively playing in the prem league.

He's been a joke since he joined Liverpool, and before, he's a cheat, and a simply nasty person. Every week he does something new and people hate him that much more.

As for Fergie's comments being out of line, don't see why, he's saying rather simply that he's dragging Liverpool's name down and Liverpool should get rid of him.

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson called Luis Suarez a "disgrace to Liverpool Football Club", adding he should never play for them again.

Not that Liverpool fans want to read what actually got said or anything, he seems to be suggesting, in a truly dispicable way, that Suarez is beneath Liverpool and basically is tarnishing the shirt, he doesn't say he should be banned from football, he's saying Liverpool should not let such a piece of scum play for a team that doesn't deserve to be dragged down by such a piece of crap.

But take it as an attack on Liverpool as every liverpool fan seems to take just about everything mentioned about them.

Suarez IS a piece of crap, there are a few players who simply can't help themselves and get into trouble every ruddy game cheating, hurting players and generally being a total arse every game no matter if everyone's focus is on them and a few quiet games might calm everyone down.

Liverpool's reputation is both being hurt by defending him, and defending every new stupid thing he does on a game by game basis.

Are you serious? Ban our player for playing for us again over a handshake?

Also I don't understand why everyone thinks not shaking a guys hand he believed has lied and ****ed him and liverpool over makes him scum, I'm sure if it was your player you wouldn't expect him to.

Actually am wondering what all this handshake is all about. It was clear Evra come to this game with all the intentions of making headlines. He worked hard get a repeat of their last time fiasco.

He kept his hand away for the hand shake and then was quick to pull Suarez's for the entire world to see.

His celebrations in front of Suarez also was an attempt to start something and that's why the officials came ruing.

But for Suarez credit to him he came to the match with one intention of ignoring everything from Evra's Confrontations. That's why when Evra pretended not to be interested in the hand shake Suarez didn't bother insisting he went on.

And what's wrong with SAF either he is growing old or his glasses need to be replaced because saying we should have a go on Suarez because of handshake is plainly stupid especially when Ferdinand was guilty of the same thing.
its also strange that nobody is coming hard on Ferdinand the same way they are doing to Suarez when the two almost did the same thing

Yes.

I cannot understand how some Liverpool fans are not comprehending what a mockery this whole incident is making of your club. Being a rival I have never liked Liverpool but I have had respect for them and the club they are. Now I have zero respect for the club, I would go as far as to say I hold them in contempt, for their response to this situation. The response of Suarez, Dalglish, some fans and the lack of a robust response from the club is simply embarrassing.

If you cannot recognise how this is damaging your club I'm shocked, every denial and cringeworthy interview from Dalglish is 1 further step down the path.

i think dalglish is a lot to blame in all of this with the culture he has brought in, summed up nicely by the simply laughable suarez t-shirts. seriously, what other manager would do this? i honestly can't think of one. imagine putting such an idea to ferguson or wenger, they'd find it laughable.

i get the impression gerrard wants no part of it really and just wants to get on with playing. suarez will continue to be an arse though, which is a real shame as he is a talent but his talent is overshadowed by his dispicable and childish attitude.

he has no passion for the club, only for his own ego/chip on his shoulder.

are you and purdy on the same water supply?

.

The reason i see Fergies comments out of line, is that he has been in very similar positons with his own players in the past, and he chose not to get rid of any of them.

Just use Cantona as an example, one of your players physically assaults a fan during a live game. Is that not dragging the name of UTD down? Did Fergie get rid of him?

It's farcical to think that a refusing a handshake, should be viewed in comparable terms.

Agree. Didn't even raise a smile when we scored against United in the FA Cup. Just sat there looking suicidal at the thought of having to play for us again.

As for Fergie, still the only manager to be fined for racist comments isn't he?

Just a thought. Does anyone else think it might have been a good idea for the FA to get Suarez and Evra together privately before the match to discuss the hanshake?

The FA could have explained that in their view, the verdict and punishment had been served, and they would like the matter closed.

They could have suggested that if either of the players felt uncomfortable about the handshake on the day, then they would remove that part completely from Saturdays game.

Instead we have endless freeze frames trying to analyse who moved their hand away first, and the inevitable media frenzy.

If you realize why no body is talking about Ferdinand then you will know why we will defend Suarez. One single thing we have to agree with is non English players in England are usually treated harshly especially when they are talented.

75% of footballers are like Suarez. sometimes i think its part of the game. They are ever doing stupid things in their life. At one time Rooney was worse than Ballotelli.

Suarez has done nothing unusual to warrant all this hatred. Its only that everybody knows he is a quality player for us and the more they distract him from football then the more we lose.

Take an example between Terry and Suarez whom would you call a total disgrace. But Terry will always be such a good boy to even be England's captain while Suarez should be gotten rid of.

Quite a combination of paranoia and delusion you have going on there.

Most people on here have condemned Terry for his actions BUT Terry has not been found guilty, Terry has not continued to act like a plum and Chelsea haven't came out with a T-shirt campaign on the issue!

No one needs to distract Liverpool from your football anyway as you seem to mess it up well enough on your own :p

sorry but you're chatting complete and utter nonsense.

he was hated long before he even joined liverpool, probably before you even knew who he was. at ajax he became the most hated player in holland due to his constant diving, horror tackles, snide behaviour and of course biting another player in the neck. people didn't hate him because he was awesome, they hated him because he is a nasty piece of work.

you claim people hate him simply because he is a quality player, well how come torres never had the same level of hatred towards him whilst he was in top form for Liverpool ? Simple answer : because he didn't act like a penis at every possibly opportunity.

That image is intriguing. Suarez's hand doesn't deviated to avoid Evra in the slightest. I've completely refrained some making comment or passing judgements on anyone during the past 24hrs, with friends, Facebook or on here etc. Although that John Barnes clip was insightful and that image is interesting. I read Suarez twitter message after the game and I truly think he's shocked at the hype.

I really hope it's put to bed by all the media, as they've spent the past 24hrs writing about handshakes.

Did you think Barton shouldn't play for you again after countless incidents?
Not shaking a guys hand who perhaps has moved it also is a hilarious reason to not play for the club ever again, didn't Fergie not shake Mourinho's hand before? Did you condemn Keane and Cantona like this?

Agree with you for once, he has done stuff to warrant hatred regardless if he abused evra or not. Mind you hating him for not shaking his hand is bloody hilarious.
