Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14 - 15th December 2013]

Holtby is fricking awesome. He is one of the few Spurs players who can play a forward pass to central areas. Many of our players pass sideways and then hope we can go around the sides of oppositions' midfields. Holtby can play through the middle, he has a great engine and lots of passion.

Like Dembele he is playing out of position. He wants to play deep and Dembele wants to play higher up yet neither gets their wish...

The bit in bold is how many people describe players they like but for which they can't say something along the lines of, has a great final ball, great shot, great vision, does the right thing all the time.

I've yet to see anything about his game except he runs a lot, for me, he makes the wrong decision in almost everything he does. He has plenty of the ball, and does very very little useful with it. One of the reasons Soldado gets so few chances is Holtby never gives him a useful ball.

Not once when I've seen him since he joined have I thought he shows anything. Much like Townsend, there is lots of running but almost entirely no end product.

Adebayor proving what a classless snake he is again.

Guy has never had any class about him, Spurs are better off rid.

I despise Adebayor, but he's angry at a manager who sent the physio to tell him he's not allowed to train with the first team anymore and to pee off to the reserves.

AVB has a history of this, belittling players, trying to stamp his authority down by being a disrespectful ****, he's got a monumental case of little man syndrome(and probably to do with his lack of playing career he wants to "win" respect by seeming a bit tough). Not letting Alex/Anelka go to the team xmas party is simply pathetic, it's vindictive and by all accounts he had a huge go at both over essentially made up stuff in front of the other players when he told them they were done at the club.

It's not classy, I don't think it's against the club as much as the manager, who frankly deserves it. Treat your players like ****, expect the same in return. He lost the Chelsea team via these antics, and is loosing control of the Spurs team after trying these antics this season..... coincidence?

Haha Football arena stalker ;)

As for Liverpool, I think they will finish higher than fourth this year. Suarez is just an absolute machine this year. Some achievement considering last years 'shenanigans' and the transfer stuff.

I thought his head might go, but he's just pushed on even more. Arsenal are no longer a big enough option to go to. Only PSG, Barca or Madrid will be able to pay his wages if he goes.

Think a lot of people thought that but he's the type of player that'll put in 100% from start to finish of any game, in any situation for any team.

I think most Liverpool supporters realise he's a level above us and he'll leave at some point but I hope it's later rather than sooner because he's probably the most exciting player I've ever seen play for Liverpool.

I can understand you remembering an incredibly rare occasion where I'm complimentary about Everton (I was right too) but to remember a random post I made about Spurs? You're weird!

I ain't gonna lie, I have a lot of free time and a weird memory for stuff like this on forums :( but if the Mrs asks me to pick up some milk when I'm off to the shops I come back with a few beers and a 5 pack of curly wurlies ;)

Depends if the offer comes in or not. I think if a massive club came in for him with the right money he will be gone in a heart beat tbh.

I don't think he is, I think Liverpool will be able to make a great case for keeping him at the end of the season. I think it will come down to how big a new deal is because I certainly think you will be well into the CL places. I'm going to predict you finish above Arsenal

I don't know but I'm sure he was dead against Martinez in the summer so he probably doesn't want you searching his history now they're flying :D

I wasn't dead against him really, I just didn't think winning an FA cup and relegated made him a better manager than Moyes. I wasn't keen on having him at Everton but I have already admitted I was wrong about him. :)

Then again I agree with point made on 606 last night, Martinez was always good going forward but crap with building a decent defense. He inherited that base from moyes. I'm enjoying the football at Everton for the first time in years, so credit where it's due.
