What a pass this was, by the way:

Firstly, it's five if you include pre-season friendlies.

Who did they concede to in preseason? BBC reckons they only played Celtic and Real Betis at home, clean sheet against both.

Secondly, "all" competitions is a bit of a liberty
Sssssh, the whole point of throwing stats around is to wrap them up into impressive-sounding phrases that are true but maybe don't tell the whole story :)

bettered only by Bayern Munich, Barcelona* and Udinese in the main 4 leagues
Hence why I went for the all competitions route!

Also, consider that Swansea have played more home league matches than all those clubs, and in fact they conceded a goal in their last match, so even if we only consider league matches, after their first 9 league matches, Bayern and Udinese had not bettered them.

there's a lot of quality they still have to play
True, but many of the teams quoted managed to score away to other Premiership sides. Of course I'd expect them to concede more than 4 goals in their remaining home matches but this is pretty much unheard of from a newly promoted side.

Maybe playing our 35million pound striker might have made sense.

Agreed seemed a bit of a strange one to me given that Suarez and Bellamy weren't playing, bagged a goal as a late sub in the cup so would have though this would be an ideal game for him to start, also his height could have proved useful defending set pieces.

0-0 FT. **** as ****. Everything is Kennys fault.

This tbh. As much of a legend Kenny has been for us, he is living in the eighties. The game has moved on. He has not.

Why getting rid of any flair we had in our midfield for this british tripe i will never know. The only one person who i have any hope for is henderson, but we still payed too much for him. Why does he insist on signing british? Just because it worked back in the day, it will not in this day and age - our players are just not technically good enough.

Downing is still to beat a man - he runs into space with the ball, stops and drags the ball back. what is wrong with him?? And he cant shoot for ****.

Adam is just too inconsistent - and his tackling is awful, gives away far too many free kicks outside the box. Bench warmer at best.

And Andy Carroll:

This donkey is better on the ball than you are!

But the most annoying thing is that we had the players we needed already - meireles scored goals from midfield and Aquilani was never given a chance - immense in pre-season and should have been in our team from the start.

No creativity, no chance im afraid. This season our best attacking players have been our fullbacks - says it all really.

Didn't see it if you did, just the playing 3 at the back comment.

I did. And if you only saw the comment about playing wingbacks instead of midfielders out wide, then I don't understand your Carroll comment at all. I assume you weren't suggesting playing Carroll out wide?

Play 4 at the back shift out carra or Coates for Carroll, our rb/lb would still get forward.

Carrick has been excellent lately. He's nothing too fancy and has done a consistently solid job.

I think him and Cleverley could form a good central partnership in midfield, Carrick is defensive minded with the ability to (now seemingly) get forward at good times.

I noticed Rooney was standing next to Scholes an awful lot today at the half way line, we can't be having that, surely that's the reason Scholes is there?!

We need a new forward thinking midfielder if Cleverley can't stay fit - hopefully he can and he will be good enough. Scholes was decent enough today but I doubt he can play all that often.

You're doing well but your future looks pretty bleak financially. I suppose the sale of Redmond for a cut price sale will hold off the worries for a while anyway :p

Please don't ruin the day for me, it's not everyday we score 6 goals !!!! It is frustrating because Chris Hughton is doing a fantasic job without no money, imagine what he can do with the money.

Probably mess everything up :p

There are loads of managers out there who spend and buy rubbish, Hughes, Bruce, Dalglish (:D)

I imagine if Lambert at Norwich was given 20m the team would deteriorate, if you have a good team who jell then there shouldn't be a need to change.

I see BBC are saving the best 'til last:

1. Spurs/Wolves, 2. Man U/Bolton, 3. B'burn/Ful, 4. Chel/Sund, 5. WBA/Nor, 6. Villa/Eve, 7. Liv/Stoke

And then how does your midfield work? No 2 of Henderson, Adam & Gerrard work together. You can get away with them in a 3 man midfield though.

3 man midfield with downing left, dirk right. Or Kelly RB and Johnson or Enrique at LM

I'd like to see Gerrard being given a free role like he was under Rafa. Hopefully when Lucas is back we see him and Henderson sitting further back and letting Gerrard roam.
