Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 17th Jan 2012]

I see BBC are saving the best 'til last:

1. Spurs/Wolves, 2. Man U/Bolton, 3. B'burn/Ful, 4. Chel/Sund, 5. WBA/Nor, 6. Villa/Eve, 7. Liv/Stoke

i can't comment on the other games but the spurs game wasn't that great tbh. we were crowded out and couldn't get our game togethor, was extremely painful to watch.

Terrible performance from Wednesday today. Nobody looked up for it nor did they play anywhere near their potential.

Didn't think Charlton were that good either. Defensive and time wasted a lot. They came with a clear game play (looked at the off to be playing for a point) they stopped us getting wide and putting crosses in and forced us to play long ball football. They deserve credit for that, but they offered nothing themselves. They played better football when they got the ball too, so deserve credit for that. Wright Philips might as well of sat and had a cup of tea with Weave for big parts of that game. Really disappointed with the away crowd too.

Still, Wednesday were well below par, below average even, I'm not sure what happened. The only thing I can think of is that they're suffering a Cup hangover or it was just one of those days. They looked over whelmed. I think it wednesday had of taken one of the numerous chances first they'd have won the game.

Charlton's free kick was a peach though.

/Referee was awful as per usual for League One.

Sounds like typical cafc... Which oldly is a good thing from my cafc mate who's loving having a manager who's planning for the opposition (first time since Curbishley I believe)

For the ref thing, welcome to L1, hope of every below average ref. So many bad and dull decisions, really hope Megson sees the magic of getting the team to play around a terrible ref and gets Wednesday playing football :) (haven't seen you guys this season other than fl show so can't comment that much)

Oh and for motd stuff Spurs REALLY shouldn't sing a fake saints go marching in... Bit embarrassing with the saggy face in charge

Nice win for Brighton today. 2-0 against Bristol City, especially as we had CMS and Forster-Caskey taken off before half-time! Considering how badly we have been struggling, that can be seen as a very good performance. Was a very boring game though, great atmosphere as well.

PS Matt Jarvis is a good player.

Bolton, last 40 games, 10 wins, 3 draws, 27 losses(just in the league).

Blackburn last 40 games, 9 wins, 11 draws, 20 losses(again just in the league).

How can anyone come close to saying that Kean should go before Coyle, I really don't know. 35% higher losses, his record is actually a joke now. Frankly his inability to get a real striker but thinking bringing in Ngog was a good idea........ there would be cheaper strikers on probably much lower wages who wouldn't be half as ****.

Also yeah, not sure why Blackburn were complaining so badly about the red, considering Murphy both jumped and had his knee quite high and Yakubu still caught him, flush on with his studs, ridiculous attempt from him.

That replay's harsh on Stockdale, can't see the ball until it's passed the wall, should probably have gone with his foot though.

I'm gonna put a chunk on Torres to score a few next week;)

....Though the last time i did that was against Man Utd when he scored on and then missed after going roud the keeper:mad:(that still gets to me)

It's just Luiz isn't it, he's absolutely dreadful defensively, positionally poor, completely unaware of movement around and behind him. They could play him in the Mikel role and he'd be good there, he's obviously a good footballer just not a Champions League centre back in a million years.

edit: tbh it looked like a dive, it looked like a double movement; contact -> tumble over.

Waiting for the highlights on that one but to beat Bristol City in the form they are in is always good going! McInns has got them going really well so to beat them 2-0 is really something (they look like they should have been fighting for playoffs not relegation)

the ref got the red card on yakubu correct imo

Yep, he's got a case for the ban to be reduced as he's basically running but its still a red

Chelsea still look suspect at the back. Cahill should be a good buy.

So long as someone replaces David Luis at CB anyone will be a good buy ;) (stick David Luis in midfield)

3 man midfield with downing left, dirk right. Or Kelly RB and Johnson or Enrique at LM

I'd like to see Gerrard being given a free role like he was under Rafa. Hopefully when Lucas is back we see him and Henderson sitting further back and letting Gerrard roam.

So you're still going to end up with 1 striker and Downing on the wing (who you've regularly complained about) or a fullback. Why not play 3-5-2 with Kuyt alongside Carroll and 2 natural wingbacks bombing forward? It would also allow you to bring Coates into the side to help out at set-plays.

lol how can presenters just freeze like that... you can actually talk without reading stuff from a screen!
