Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 17th Jan 2012]

I do, They play the best football of all the teams at the top imo.

I will be disappointed if West Ham or Birmingham get back up this year, they still have many players that played in the premiership last year and they have not looked like it in the slightest. They look totally average to me. West Ham have been very professional I suppose, but there are many teams that play much better football than them.

:) sometimes its just hard to accept success (Saints web comes across as some suicidal maniacs in comparison to mild just cant quite believe it-ness) we do play some very nice football, just need one or two little things to make it the complete package...

Would HATE it if Brum and West Ham go back up, neither look anything like a prem team, just team's with loads of strikers and adept hoof... (harsh on Brum who have just been hit or miss all season really). Wouldn't say much positive about West Ham though, really was expecting them to turn the champ over and realistically you can see why they were relegated with the blind lack of ambition or any real talent from the manager (Grant was an idiot and big Sam is no better) just a couple of good strikers and getting a bit of luck one way or another.

Least Blackpool have done the decent thing and been as average as they were last season ;)

Tummy I see what you mean with cafc, 30 seconds of highlights, them with 9 men behind the ball, a class free kick and their manager grinning like its christmas says it all.

Just a little lucky Bradley hasn't been on form for a while now

Not the best team we've played at Hillsborough. We were really disappointed in them to be honest. Negative tactics from the off.

We just couldn't finish, they forced us to play long ball football.

We were terrible mind.

#NUFC v #QPR : Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini (c), Santon; R.Taylor, Guthrie, Cabaye, Gutierrez; Shola Ameobi, Best. #newcastle #epl

No Ben Arfa again. Pardew is really starting to grind on me. (and not in a good way either)

It's becoming embarrassing.

Of all the things that could wind you up, Pardew shouldn't be one of them. He's done wonders. How are Best and Ameobi still in the EPL?!

Your damn right. I never questioned that. Benching one of our best and most creative players against a b-level QPR team is laughable regardless of what he has done.

I love Pardew but it's frustrating.

Looking on the bright side, Obertan is on the bench.

Suppose he must have a reason though, that's the thing, us supporters never know what goes on behind closed doors we can only judge on what we see on paper. Shame really.

I want them to bring back Dream Team or another footballing series :D

True true.

God no. You were Footballers Wives fan weren't you

I meant solely with not starting Ben Arfa. Calm down! :p

I was wondering what Newcastle's fixture list was like in Ba's absence, its not bad at all actually, with a hard pre-xmas run of games its not the worst run of fixtures while Ba and Tiote are away. Still, I think you'll be looking to protect Arfa some what in terms of fitness, taking knocks and which games he plays and with two away games coming up, you'd probably pick home against basically the worst form team in the league to rest him in the next few weeks.

Of course, QPR have a new manager, but other than the possibly morale boost he hasn't had time to really do much with the players.

When would Ba/Tiote be back assuming they went all the way to the final in the ACN?

21 15.01.2012 Queens Park Rangers home
22 21.01.2012 Fulham away
23 01.02.2012 Blackburn Rovers away
24 05.02.2012 Aston Villa home
25 11.02.2012 Tottenham Hotspur away
26 25.02.2012 Wolverhampton Wndrs home
27 03.03.2012 Sunderland home

That could have been so so much worse over the next couple months. The way Newcastle have been playing, I don't think they are going to win all but one, but everyone but Spurs is very very beatable. Blackburn even more as Yakubu will probably still be suspended till then.

I can't see that Newcastle team having too much trouble against the EPL whipping boys. :p

Normally yes, form, and frankly quality, you wouldn't expect much at all........ but really you can never predict the ridiculous change in form a new manager can bring even if the manager hasn't had time to do anything.

They were being a bit pratty about Hughes record at Fulham, only 2 wins in 18 isn't great, but it was only 5-6 losses AND he had Zamora and Dembele with, both had broken legs IIRC, and Johnson out also. They drew a lot, played well and once those guys came back they won a lot more but played more or less the same. Fulham were incredibly good under Hughes, just bad luck with injuries and no strikers. Their second half of the season form was outstanding.

Azza, what stat, missed it. Assuming something along the lines of, "in his last 338 starts...... he's officially been **** " . Of all the guys Newcastle have cleared out, how they haven't got rid of both the Ameobi's I don't know.
