Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 20th May 2015]

Rodger's really needs the financial backing of the owners over the summer, I just can't see it happening though.

Certainly can't see Milner & Ings making enough of a difference that's for sure!

This year it isn't about them being good though, we've just been the least good of three very average sides. If we go through next season playing well, looking strong and winning the games we should, it's further progress. City are a couple of seasons ahead of us in development, and United have thrown a lot of money at it, so a strong 5th next year won't be bad. We need to either throw a lot of money at the squad which we won't do, or give Rodgers time to build slowly.

Why do you think Rodgers is the man to take us forward?

He has had the backing though. Its not a case of being backed financially, can he be trusted with the keys to the bank ?

With Gerrard leaving and the futures of Skrtel, Lucas and Sterling in doubt I really don't trust Rodgers to replace any of them or take us forward anymore.

Fresh start for me next season.

Liverpool have spent huge in the past 3 years and spent huge under Rodgers. How many and which signings have been Rodgers and how many have been the clubs choice is unclear. The amount of money LIverpool are spending isn't the issue, who they've spent it on and how much they've gotten out of a lot of those players is the issue.

He has most definitely had the backing, I couldn't agree more. But are the transfer failing down to Rodgers or this transfer committee that the club insist on having?

Something has to change though, hopefully a re-look at how the transfer dealings are being done will be the answer.

Can someone get me Alan Pardew's number in case I ever need to ruin a party?

Steven Gerrard has today made Marouane Chamakh look like a decent professional footballer. #ThanksStevie

Banter!

A few of the transfers can be argued with but not Lovren, who's a car crash and keeps getting played, or Allen and Borini. That's £45 million alone :(

60m net spend really isn't what I'd call huge, I think I'd reserve that word for United :D

Because we've improved significantly under him, because I can't think of anyone I'd rather have, and because I'd argue that if we replace him there's a good 50% chance that it will take us backwards.

You could argue a lot of the good was down to Suarez.

Our best season was, but we've still improved a lot. We didn't have Suarez at the start of last season and looked good. At the turn of this year we looked good too. We need to add consistency and grit, but that comes with time. Rodgers can get this team playing well, it just has to happen over longer periods.

Suarez and Sturridge were on amazing form and were responsible for a huge amount of that success. The rest of the team was perhaps 20% with those two representing 80%.

With Sturridge fully fit this season they might have got top 4 simply because we have been so poor for a lot of the season.
