Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 20th May 2015]

Been a few occasions when we have played well and ended up losing, Sturridge may well have made the difference. I have little doubt that if he had played more this season we would have made the top four.

Suarez was brilliant but it still takes a team.

Not sure I agree. Players like Sterling and Sturridge need space and there's no better player in world football at creating space for others than Suarez. The runs, the constant harassment of anyone with the ball and just plain old workrate led to so many goals for teammates and it's something no other player in our team can provide us.

Do you not remember how bad it was with Kenny and Roy?

Klopp
Rafa
De Boer
Ancelotti
The Tea Lady
My mum

Klopp's time at Dortmund was a one off, I'd be staggered if he repeated it elsewhere. Rafa fell apart in his last year or two at the club. I wouldn't mind seeing him back, but at the same time I don't think success with him is anywhere near guaranteed. I'm not sure what de Boer has done to warrant being linked. Ancellotti has won stuff with Milan, Chelsea and Madrid, where he had three of the best squads I've ever seen to work with. He'd also be a short term solution. And your mum is far too hot to manage a football club :D

Rodger's really needs the financial backing of the owners over the summer, I just can't see it happening though.

Certainly can't see Milner & Ings making enough of a difference that's for sure!

He has had backing, and he spunked it up the wall.. Balotelli and Lovren for starters.

I wouldn't trust him with a load more cash.

Exactly, its under-appreciated just how much of a difference it makes when you have fast and deadly strikers that push back and punish defences. Teams play much deeper and never fully settle which allows your midfielders much more time and space to play than they would get.

Balotelli was always a gamble. He was never going to be an average signing, he was a risk that could've paid off massively or tanked like it did.

Lovren though, I can't remember a worse defender playing for Liverpool in 35 years.

Nice send off for Gerrard. Well deserved. He has been a great player for them over the years. Probably should have retired last season but hey ho.

Now he needs to focus on making a son!

Do you not remember how bad it was with Kenny

This season has been just as bad if not worse than Kenny's final season, the league is a lot weaker than a few years ago..

Why was it a one off? He built Dortmund up from mid table mediocrity (sound familiar?) into x2 champions and CL runners up

Why did it fall apart though? Because the club was going under and despite that he still performed on a par in the league to the current Regime and did much better in the cups.
