Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 20th May 2015]

Sorry, I just thought it was an odd comment...I said he looked well, and you said you disliked his time at the club
It wasn't in response to your comment, just remembering a very deep disliking of him when I saw him on TV. Fowler was my idol growing up and still my favourite Liverpool player ever.

Fair enough then :)

Personally, I'll never forgive Rafa for trying to swap Xabi for Gareth ******* Barry!

Allardyce interview blaming the players for going forward looking for a second goal when one is enough to win a game.

Lets hope all these so called friggen experts on Sky stick their opinions where the sun doesn't shine and see WHY we want Hippohead out.

Lol, what a load of **** by Allardyce. If he doesn't want the players pushing on, he should tell them to drop back a bit. He clearly just didn't want to be seen waving his players back on the sidelines for fear of the criticism he'd receive, so instead he's let them do what they want and then blamed them post-match. It's his team, the buck stops with him. Crap management imo.

i'd have put my house on gerrard retiring before pep lost his hair

Thanks again Palace.
For the 2nd year running they've held up the integrity of English football by not rolling over and succumbing to the stupid media we have here.
The Gerrard ****fest was so disrespectful to players who have achieved more and got nowhere near the media exposure he's had today.

The one goal to win gets on my goat. I don't give a crap if the other team score because we are trying to attack. Thats football. It does get on my goat when we are sitting back for no reason and then they score.

Balotelli was always a gamble. He was never going to be an average signing, he was a risk that could've paid off massively or tanked like it did.

Lovren though, I can't remember a worse defender playing for Liverpool in 35 years.

Torben Piechnick ?

This. It was so OTT, well of course they had his sicophantic cronies down on the pitch with him for interviews.

If it means that much to him, why doesn't he stay and take on the lesser role ?

Can't wait for JT to retire ;)

60m net spend really isn't what I'd call huge, I think I'd reserve that word for United :D

There is one simple fact, from that image(which isn't three years and isn't what I was getting at) you spent 167mil, regardless of what you brought in, had you brought in 300mil or 3mil and either made a huge profit or a huge loss, you DID spend 167mil. That is money on new players, players who by and large haven't been successful.

Liverpool have physically spent to bring in new players a similar amount of money to other top 5 clubs..... that means the owners have indeed backed the current team. They could have chosen to spend 30million in the same time frame and made much more profit but they absolutely did not do that.

In the two years before 2013 summer Liverpool spent another £110mil which added about 85mil net to their spending. Man Utd spent a very similar amount both total and in net.

Arsenal spent another £100mil but net spend actually went down about 10mil adding those years. City spent 125mil but brought in almost 70mil, so 55mil net spend increase.

Only Chelsea massively outspent in those two years, £185mil or so spend in those two years, about 145mil net spend.

Regardless of what you think, spending even in the ball park of those teams is massively beyond what the rest of the league spends, by a monumental amount, it is huge money and Liverpool have been splashing the cash.

Hell it was the year before that they spend ANOTHER 80mil, they brought in 85mil, mostly thanks to Torres being sold for 30+ mil more than his previous years form, age and contract situation suggested he was worth.

They've sold Torres and since then spent 335+ million..... in 4.5 years. That is an average 74.4million spent per year since Torres was sold. Liverpool have definitely been spending heavily and Rodgers has definitely had financial backing.

Ridiculous amount of money that.
