Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 20th May 2015]

This. It was so OTT, well of course they had his sicophantic cronies down on the pitch with him for interviews.

If it means that much to him, why doesn't he stay and take on the lesser role ?

To be fair to Gerrard he has been iconic in the Premiership Years. He has had a lot of stick, over the years, a lot brought on himself. He could have movedbut he stayed. Loyalty does seem a rare trait in todays footballer. Todays 21 gun salute, red arrow fly over etc did seem a tad over the top. By this measure, John Terry should get the same if not better ?

Had to turn off the vomit inducing pre match 'Expert' opinions of Redknapp. FML is there anyone more bias than him in the world of punditry ?

Is there an truth to the stories that his family was threatened if he left ?? Genuine question.

As for Redknapp, don't get me started. The world revolves around 'Cousin Frank' and 'Stevie G'. And the amount of players he has tapped up for his old man is a joke.

Rigobert Song... until some mug club bought him from you ? I wonder who that was.

To be fair he was OK at right back, unfortunately both clubs insisted on playing him at centreback.

The line in bold would suggest that I am a Liverpool fan. Take that back right now. I have never been so insulted in my entire life

#mufc :cool::p

Because the club stiffed him over a contract.

Fairwell Stevie, thanks for everything, some glorious memories.

Rodgers out!

Thanks again Palace.
For the 2nd year running they've held up the integrity of English football by not rolling over and succumbing to the stupid media we have here.
The Gerrard ****fest was so disrespectful to players who have achieved more and got nowhere near the media exposure he's had today.

Lol, bitter much?

Quoting system won't let you put in two quotes so I fully apologise and I will make it perfectly clear that you do not in fact support that bunch of whiners who play in red.

You support the other bunch of whiners who play in red.

Hope that clears things up ;)

Bitter?:p
It's Liverpool there's no need to be bitter, I just can't stand bias from any angle.

The only biased commentator I like, and I am not saying because he is West Ham, is Tony Gale, because he takes the **** out of West Ham all the time when they deserve it. He still says 'we' on commentary but he is the first to call out if something is wrong without any sort of agenda.

To be fair to Carragher, he is doing that more now too. Redknapp on the other hand ...

I don't have any issues if a club wants to throw a player a parade through the streets when he retires. Thats their choice. Fact of the matter is that Gerrard has been a huge player for them over the years and deserves to have more silverware to his name as a result.

There are hundreds of players that aren't half the player he was in his prime and they have 5 times the medals he does. That doesn't have any bearing on his ability.

And why would a player want to stay at a club and be pushed out of the door when he still wants to play every week. Players like Scholes could have gone to the US for a last payday but wanted to retire. They could have stuck around as well but they didn't want to stifle the young players coming through and be remembered for a **** last few years where they barely played.

They basically didn't offer him anything in the summer, and if they would have he's said he would've stayed.

The clubs handling of this situation had been diabolical.
Didn't he admit not more than a week ago he decided to leave the minute Rodgers told him his playing time would be limited from now on? A lot of his former teammates, commentators and Liverpool supporters would've given him a contract and position in the team for life but the fact is, players get old and football moves on.

Apology accepted Frankiemac and thank you for clarifying which red whiners I support. Speaking of red whine :D :D

So why didn't he when they did offer ? His playing time would still have been reduced so unless they wanted to offer significantly less money, which would make sense, I don't see why he didn't sign unless he wants the $$$. I don't have a problem with that but it makes all this OTT stuff today a bit pointless.

To be fair its Sky that were hyping it.
