Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17 - 19th November 2012]

You mean he can't score without the ball?

I think of more concern is how useless RvP was, he barely even tried to come deep and get the ball. Just seemed to be content standing around up front missing our best chance :p

It's just his first touch and passing that aren't good enough.

RvP was worryingly bad, didn't drop deep enough and even though the two volleys he missed were extremely difficult he is RvP... just a bad game all round I guess.

The last couple of weeks have also highlighted Valencia's weakness in that he is very one-footed and one-dimensional which is a bit worrying, particularly when teams like Villa and Norwich seem to contain him so easily...

If there's a fixture you'd put last on MOTD, it's Southampton Vs QPR.

Utter dog ****.

I think the worst part is he wasn't even tracking back well, that's usually the best part of his game. Early on Garrido ran all the way down the flank, into the box and shot. Valencia was still sitting on the half way line jogging. I don't know if he was unfit but he was well off his game in every area tonight.

Yup, did seem lethargic throughout. I do like Rafael more and more though, becoming a good attacking right back.

I think Rafael and De Gea are the only two players I can think of that haven't disgraced themselves at some point this season, probably our most consistent performers.

Also, is it just me or does Rooney leave an enormous hole in the team that even the likes of RvP can't cover? :(

Credit to Pilkington though, awesome header from that position.

In the end, both wingers had off days. The central 2 were never going to support the strikers at all and Fergie made no attempt to change it until it was too late (and even then he made just crap changes.)

I hadn't been impressed by Rooney thus far this season but judging by how poor we were today I guess it must be one of those things you don't miss until it's gone.

I really don't see why Giggs would ever start over Scholes these days, he simply doesn't have the control or the range of passing and against Norwich the likeliness is you are going to dominate possession and territory and can therefore afford to play Scholes despite his limited physicality... meh.

Only because QPR were utter ****.

Hansen was worryingly nice about us! Going forward we had better than most of the best, just not all the confidence. MOTD highlights hopefully will have everyone queueing up for Puncheon over Christmas too!

Have to have a saving note for Gazza as MOTD made out he was terrible when he was only a 6/10 with the rest of the team getting 8 or more...

Hilarious to watch them squirm... they can't stand him doing well.. :D
It was obvious he was trying to plant his foot in front of the defender to shield the ball but mistimed it yet they've tried to turn it in to something it wasn't because of who it was.

Excellent all round performance, two goals and he didn't dive but again the media are more concerned about something else, although in fairness most have laughed of Martinez's claims.

To be fair, I've not read anything more than Martinez's comments on it in all the match reports, it was only motd that tried to make something out of it.
