Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17th - 19th September 2011]

I have 3 jobs atm and wouldn't mind another but i refuse to ever work in a place like McDonalds.

Nothing wrong with Maccy D's. I worked there when I was 17 for a year, paid well and I met some great people with whom I'm still friends with.

If you have three jobs can't see them being better than fast food catering anyway? Paper round?

Even so the tackle has been punished at the time - I have never heard any reference to who its punished by making any difference (but Im happy to be corrected)

Well if the ref doesn't see an incident he can look at it retrospectively and inform the FA if he would have issued any form of punishment. In this example if he only issued the yellow on the say so of the linesman I didn't know if looking back at it himself he could then decide it was Red card worthy (which it undoubtedly was) and then the appropriate punishment could then be handed out (ie 3 game ban for Cole for violent behaviour)

Not that it makes any odds to us as we wont profit from any ban but Cole certainly should have gone for it

Surely it depends what he was carded for? Fergie seemed ti think it was for dissent and was going to talk to Dowd about it.

If he wasn't booked for the challenge then yes, he can be retrospectively punished. I'm not sure why Cole would have said anything that would have got him booked for discent in that situation though.

 I'm pretty sure you wouldn't of said this prior to the game today. I'm sure people make stuff up the minute a player makes a mistake.

I remember a horror tackle from him in his Arsenal days at Birmingham

I dont remember this one myself but it's high up on a youtube search as well

Ashley Cole is a nasty **** of the highest order

EDIT: Actually I do remember the Hutton one, that's the one that sparked the respect the ref campaign.

Johnny Evans broke Holden's leg last year, I'm not going to tarnish him a dirty **** just yet. Full backs make a lot of challenges, I think it's a bit ridiculous to criticise him in his 12/13 year career for two challenges. Also at one stage he was regarded as the best full back in the world, I don't think he'd receive such plaudits being 'nasty'.

Job 1 is labouring for a building firm near me.
Job 2 is doing 1 day a week in my mum's shop :o
Job 3 is doing 2 days a week in a local computer repair shop.

Certainly better paid that fast food catering and to me better jobs :)

Doubt they'd look better on a CV though :p

Contrary to what people believe, McDonald's on a Job Application is well received by employers.

I can't see you getting paid much more than what they're paid neither.

Anyway, back on topic.

If you "jazz" them up a bit they do :D

I can assure you that i am because a friend of a friend who plays in my team works there and is making considerably less and working the same amount pretty much.

Anyway, back on topic as you say....

Are you on some kind of a WUM? The shin high tackles, the two footed lunges, the whole Mike Riley incident, his behaviour in his personal life, the guy is a **** of the highest order.

He's not alone of course he's not but we're not talking about anyone else we're talking about him. As the whole John Terry incident proved personalty traits dont effect your standing in football and rightly so as he's one of if not the best LB in the world, doesn't stop him being a **** though and I doubt anyone has only just came to that conclusion after today's game

Eh? Cole might be a **** off field but he hardly does wrong on it, I can't remember him being 'nasty'.

I agree for a defender he's pretty inoffensive really. In his early for England a couple of big games he was caught out and fouled players but now he's more experienced he is one of the last defenders I would call nasty.

So before you shared a link to a youtube video of a foul you haven't seen to back yourself up, now he's capable of shin high tackles and two footed lunges? Google more stuff and link them if you wish.

I'm talking about him on the field, not off it, he doesn't come across as a dirty player which you're saying he is. He's been sent off 3 times in his career, yeah I'm doing my research now.

I thought it was a bad tackle by Cole (who is a massive ****) but I don't think he set out to hurt anyone, he was just going in firm and trying to block the ball. It was bad in the sense that he didn't get the ball, just one of those things.

I also, don't think he's a nasty player as such, he's just a mouthy ****, he's snarly but he's been one of the better left backs in the World for quite some time.

Also, unimpressed by Chelsea today, Torres was decent in the second half, Lampard was woeful as was most of the Chelsea midfield. Terry had a real shocker and was shown up again today.

What the hell are you on about? I remember clear as day the two footed lunge in his Arsenal days against Birmingham. I remember the shin high one against Hutton as well when he refused to accept his punishment from Mike Riley and I obviously remember his shin high one today on Chicharito. Those were 3 very dangerous tackles how many more should he be afforded before he's classed as a dirty player then?

As for his Red card record that's irrelevant as 2 of the 3 examples I've provided he wasn't sent off for, just like all the penalties John Terry has failed to concede when doing his best goal keeper impersonations.

I'm worried about lampard for England. We don't have anyone can do what he used to, and he's looking less and less capable.

[edit]are you sure you mean Terry and not carthorse carragher?

You mean be quite ineffective? :p

He's declining as a footballer quite rapidly, he's looked well of the pace for a while now for club form and international form.

Bah, I give up.

One question though, would you say Keane was worse than Cole? As in a thuggery nature.
