It was nice to see that, as soon as van Persie came on, he went right up front and was looking to run off the shoulder of the last defender instead of the usual Rooney stuff where he can't be bothered doing that and starts playing in midfield.

With Kagawa we have a player who can supply him with quality through balls, unfortunately we have the ball out wide most of the time so responsible defending kills our attack. :(

We need to start playing it through the middle with a bit more purpose instead of just having the ball on the wings where we don't pose much of a threat.

Not sure why they didnt replace scholes with Andesron , and do it much faster than when hedid actually come on.

I couldnt work out our tactics., When we got the ball in crossing positions, we'd either make a terrible cros, or play it infield, so it could go across to the other side.. for a cross...

I might ahve mentioned this before, but i saw about 3-4 quality crosses but no one actually attacking them:/ Its getting silly now, its plain to see that a team with a big defence just isnt threatened by our crossing. If we can beat the first man that is.

Conversely, throw a big man in up front (see everton) and voila, you can bash down virtually any defence. yet we dont have this tool to throw on.

The system was **** tonight. We are not a 4-5-1/4-3-3 team, never have been. No point trying to fit players into a system that doesn't suit them. Go 4-4-2 and have the balls to tell a midfielder he isn't playing rather than trying to fit everyone in.

But then where does Kagawa play? He's not a winger and he's not a central midfielder. We could convert him into a deep midfielder to sit alongside scholes/carrick the same way we did Anderson and will Cleverley, in which case he was a complete waste of money. He needs to be right up there in between their defence and midfield

Anderson isn't crap because he was "pushed backwards" and not played in his best role, he's simply not very good. A top player who can see a through ball can play a through ball anywhere on the pitch. Till people see Kawaga played in central midfield and being awful, stop saying he'd be wasted there.

Was Cesc terrible in the Euro's or the first half of the season for Barca as a striker, did everyone think it was a terrible idea? he might be as good or better in central midfield, more importantly Utd might be better overall and win more games with him in central midfield.

Utd need a defensive midfielder, Carrick is a joke, and if you have injury concerns you fix them, though to be fair while Arsenal have kept Diaby for 58 years and given Rosicky a new contract... just to have him need surgery before the season starts, Utd signed two young CB's... who are now both quite injury prone. He tried to fix it and got VERY unlucky or there is something wrong with the way your guys train/warm up/stretch/something.

Realistically they need a guy who will do what Carrick does but VASTLY better with the added pace(as in any at all) that if a break happens and he is one of the furthest forward he can support it, or push forward in games when a team is defending with 11 men and help out. Then they need a long term Scholes replacement, maybe its Kawaga, maybe it's not. Also you need to stop play Rooney as a deeper wannabe playmaker, his passing is meh, his vision is meh, and Welbeck..... lol.

Was surprised MU kept firing corners into the box as Everton's defence were just lapping them up every time, they needed to try something a bit more creative I feel especially considering the players they had on the pitch (RvP used to do short corners with Fabregas all the time, Scholes can do the volleys, the likes of Nani would probably fancy a run into the area, Kagawa probably has something up his sleeve etc).

Enjoyed the game tonight :D

Man U looked out of ideas, constant crossing into the box, Rooney and RVP aren't going to trouble Distin and Jag to be honest, it was pretty easy for them.

Valencia is so easy to read too, he needs a left foot

Bruno Mars would catch a grenade for you, but Marouane Fellaini could take it down on his chest and control it.

:D

Manchester United looked very flat tonight; they enjoyed a lot of the ball but without any cutting edge in the final third. Everton looked good but tired toward the end and seemed happy to sit back and soak up pressure. Sponges.

Of course they were happy to sit back, they knew they could contain United. Man U had nothing in the final third, very poor. Everton were the better side by a mile. Good win!

I was incredibly pleased on how Everton played tonight, SAF's after match comments were disgusting as far as I'm concerned. Lost a bit of respect for the great man.

Well done to Everton, totally deserved victory. If they can keep that sort of form up for the majority of the season they'll do very well.

As for us, De Gea and Kagawa our best players, the quicker we can get Carrick and Valencia out of defence and into their natural positions the better, it might be fine at home with the majority of possession and not much attacking intent from the opposition but at one of the toughest away grounds it's never going to be pretty. Hopefully Evans and Rafael are both back next week.

Hopefully once the new players bed in and get used to each others game there will be a lot more cohesion to our play, and hopefully enough creativity to break down teams defending in numbers.

What did he say?

Sir Alex Ferguson said:
"He (Fellaini) is a handful: he is a big, tall, gangly lad and they just lumped the ball forward to him, that's all they did," added Ferguson.

"They worked from that base all the time and they got a goal from him, so it's justified.

"Centre-back is a problem but we coped quite well, I don't think you can criticise their performance in that respect.

"It was just difficult to handle him when they were knocking these balls up to him.

I think we did a bit more than "lump" the ball to Fellaini.

LolUtd..even RVP couldn't save your blushes tonight...what a result for Everton :D

1-0...deserved that result after the effort they put in in the first and second half.

Really hoping RVP turns out to be a huge flop for Utd :p

RVP had 20 minutes. 20 minutes against 10 defenders. How is he supposed to get into the game?

People jumping the gun here. We had Carrick and Valencia in defense. Vidic's first game back in 8 months and Evra. I thought we did ok to lose only 1-0.

Everton pretty much did what Chelsea did to Barca in the CL.

We will be fine. RVP and Rooney will start the next game. Goals will come.
