Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17th - 22nd December 2011]

Arteta has been ok for us but id rather have Fab or Wilshere back in all honesty...but hes been pretty capable playing for us.

Jan time Wenger needs to buy a proven striker to go with RVP...Gervinho isnt cutting it, neither is Chamakh and Arshavin needs to **** off back to Russia...to think we spent all that money a few yrs ago on someone who was meant to be good...hes had like one good game for us since we bought him and that was against Liverpool when he tore them apart.

But knowing Wenger, he likes to hang onto our crap players and sell our best :/

Arteta has been great most of the time, I'd like to see him, Wilshere and Ramsey as the midfield 3, omitting Song as he's a tidy play who makes and scores the odd goal, but he's definitely not a like-for-like replacement for anyone. Wilshere really will be essential for chance creation through the middle, which is why we need him back so badly. There were times in today's match that were crying for a Cesc type pass but instead it was usually Gervihno with the ball dilly-dallying and making the move evaporate.

Hopefully he will be back in time for the next round of the CL, we deffo need him to create chances for RVP.

Wenger needs to stop cesc from talking to rvp or any off the arsenal players:p

It was a good game end to end stuff. Gervinho reminds of Smicer. Has a good game every other month but pretty useles in the rest.

Well pomp away was fun, rubbish game of football but good to see the rivals look terrible and get gifted a simple equaliser (even if they gave us a goal too).

Positive note I haven't seen a team play for a draw at home like that for a while, they were lost after about half an hour of hasseling us off the ball and just made sure Guly had a poor game :(

Can't wait for next season to come home to find these threads focused on saints and their first season in the prem against all the popular teams, and wigan... (providied they stay up) ;)

looking at the table, the result at stoke last week really hurts
No point crying over spilt milk, we can only look forward. Should we get a result on Thursday then we would be 5 points clear of the ***** with a (home) game in hand.... which would be a nicer postition to be in if they decide to come knocking for Modric again in the Jan window :)

Like he has a choice in the matter anymore than if I was to moan that Moyes sells our best players and hangs onto the crap.

Just like us you are now a feeder club for a bigger tier group of sides, get used to it. You have had your turn at raping other clubs for talent now it's someone elses turn to rape you. Again get used to it because you don't have the money to compete sadly.

You ain't going to be looking for another forward to help take the burden off RVP, you will be looking for a replacement soon enough. He is at an age where he will only get one more big money move and his stock will never be as high again. If he stays it will be because he gets injured again.

We're not even half way through the season yet but according to OptaJoe, Liverpool have already hit the woodwork more times than 15 of the 20 Premier League sides did in the entire of last season. Surely they're going to start hitting the back of the net soon :o

Just finished watching the game... Gervinho is so so poor, technically awful, can't play a pass more than 5 yards, really not good enough for Arsenal, I can understand Walcott's frustration at being taken off when Gervinho is on the other wing playing so so poorly and giving him absolute rubbish, passing it behind him on the break etc.

City probably deserved it, Aguero is disgustingly good, Silva was a bit nonchalant today though at times.

Arshavin needs to **** off back to Russia...to think we spent all that money a few yrs ago on someone who was meant to be good

And to think Jakeke was on here tipping him to be player of the year :p

Hurts? Serious question, do you honestly believe Spurs are title challengers?

depends on fitness. we really missed bale today but we still won. the difference in quality between the current top 6 and the rest of the prem is obvious. it hurts because we are now winning games that not too long ago we wouldn't have. if the ref had gotten the decisions right, we'd have beaten stoke. we have a game in hand against united (everton) which i believe we can win, so mathematically, we would still be 3rd but if we'd have won at stoke, second.

i believe we are better than liverpool and arsenal, i also believe we have a better team than united but don't have the psychological edge. city are, in all reality a better team than us but chelsea showed they can be beaten. i believe spurs are on a par with chelsea when it comes to quality though i get the feeling they could nick it against us on thursday for some reason.

3rd is what my head is telling me but if we continue to beat everyone but the other 3 in the top 4, and other results go in our favour, there's no reason we can't challenge trouble is, i just can't see city losing another game for a while but they could draw a few, couple that with us winning and things look a little possible.

it could all go wrong for spurs, transfer window and injuries could scupper us although i don't see why modric would now go to chelsea, hopefully he sees a good future at spurs, atleast til redknapp goes anyway and then we're back to <2008.

i'm all too used to the wheels falling off with tottenham but this feels a little different. i think redknapp deserves credit too. i know he has a court case coming up but he really has just kept his head down and got the job done as opposed to the '2 points from 8 games of old'.

our central defence and keeper are ageing, not sure what the future holds for that area but i am really pleased atm and most importantly of all, we're an exciting team to watch (i hope neutrals will agree) we have great pace mixed with workrate. adebayor and parker have been just what we needed and both deserve praise. adebayor was better at tracking back and digging in today than he was in front of goal.

Really enjoyed the City - Arsenal game. Unlucky with the result but I felt we played well and could have come away with a point.

Looks like Djourou could be out for a while so the transfer window could be interesting.
