Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17th - 22nd December 2011]

Really strange how he looks now. I'm not convinced it is all confidene, he genuinely doesn't seem as fast as he used to be. What injury did he have at LFC to put him out? From what I remember he was out for a bit then never seemed the same when he came back.

He had a knee problem afaik, which was then aggravated at the World Cup. Could very well just be that yard of pace which he has lost.

Unfortunately he's seeming more and more like another Schevchenko purchase.

His knee injury wasn't aggravated at the WC. He done his hamstring then, like he always did when he was away with Spain.

As for his loss of pace. Any idea that he was lightning fast is a wrong one; he was never that fast. He had a decent change of pace from a standing start and he had this technique of stopping a defender and then going again (not too dissimilar to Pires and Henry) but when he was up and running, he wasn't especially quick.

Berba esk, uesed skill to get round people, loss of confidence means he wont try it. so he looks crap.

Really can't say I've been impressed with Spurs this season, they're far too (for want of a better word) flippant with possession, even against Liverpool it was only until they went down to 9 men that Spurs really turned the screw. Against Arsenal I feel they were fortunate to win, unconvincing tonight against Chelsea and in the other game I've seen of there's recently against a truly dire Villa side they didn't even take the opportunity to make a statement then either.
I'd be really interested to see their pass and chance completion rate because I'd bet it shocking.

They've still got an issue up front, Pavlyuchenko I've got no idea why he's still at the club, Defoe is just meh these days and Adebarndoor simply should not be a top 4 side's main centre forward.

Credit to them though in some regard though they've obviously got where they are in the league at the moment without coming out of 3rd gear and that's a sign of a good side, would just be nice to see them really put in a performance one week.

Fair enough. I just remember him having a knee injury and then having problems at the WC.

That's what I was getting at really - he relied on delivery, making a turn, a couple of touches and then a goal. Not this pass, move, pass, move, turn, pass, move, shoot, business that Chelsea like to play. And of course that instant movement.

weve played some of the best football in the league wtf are you on!

I get so annoyed watching Spurs just because Bale rates him so much, just pass the ball occasionally, the cross for the goal was good admittedly but then he just ****s about for the rest of the game thinking he's better than he is.

How is Cook not in the top 3 in Sports Personality? Or at least Strauss? Ridiculous.

In what games then? Because I'm not having that you played that well in any of the 4 games that I've already mentioned. I also forgot to add the QPR game because I don't think you played that well in that game either, nor obviously the 2 defeats early on in the season to us and City.

So that's 7 of your 16 games that I've seen (that I can remember) so which games do you feel have been Spurs best performances of the season?

Also worth baring in mind that you lost to Stoke and played against 10 men against Bolton (so that's 9 of your 16 games)
