Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 24th April 2019]

I've put a bet on Utd to win and I will be cheering Utd on for the first time in league history ( I do cheer them on in Europe as I always want to see English teams do well in Europe, regardless of the design of their shirt) , but to be quite honest I don't think for a moment that Utd will even try in the match. Perhaps it would be inevitable for City to win even if Utd did try but despite that, I don't think they will try anyway. City is the lesser of two evils for most Utd fans I suspect.
That is correct lesser of 2 evils

City beat Liverpool when they met so in my opinion they deserve it more anyway.
Hahah :D

Hang on but Palace beat City so they deserve it more!
It is weird how people can only focus on the last few games
It's not weird, it's desperation. The same people will be saying x bottled it if they finish 2nd too. The funny thing is the very same people never said that the one year a side really did bottle it.

On their 1v1 meetings this season City have come out on top. The only team to defeat Liverpool. Surely that warrants it. Their GD is more and they have won more games.

Statistics can be spun many ways, for example, the counter to them having higher GD would be that they have let in more goals, the counter to them having won more games would be that they have lost more games.

I would say the most plausible reasoning for City deserving it more would be that City have eased past so many teams, compared to Liverpool who have scraped past in quite a few matches.

Personally, I would say that both teams fully deserve to win the league (and in truth are the ONLY two teams who deserve to win the league this season), but only one can. Whichever team comes out on top at the end will be worthy winners. Only bias, tribalism and bitterness could disagree with that thought imo.

Newcastle fans in 96?

Palace are not challenging for the title. I have always felt that winning the league while losing to your direct opposition was always a hollow victory. Kind of like when Mourhino had that rant when he came back to Chelsea beating both sides that finished above him.

I’m conflicted. I don’t want Citeh winning it because it’s financial doping and where their money comes from stinks! I don’t want Liverpool winning either as their fans constant moaning about how they are hard done by and nobody likes them. Also they’ll be insufferable if they do win it. It’s a lose lose situation really. I think Citeh will win tonight though and will win the Prem. They play amazing football but wish they’d done it a different way than with that corrupt money, don’t bregudge their fans the joy though as they suffered decades of being mediocre to *****. It’s not their fault they were bought by corrupt money.

City fans are all kids though. I know maybe a handful of oldskool City fans.

My feelings exactly would rather spurs had won it but that ain't happening so it's got to be city unfortunately

City definitely deserve it

Their breach of financial rules
Their ownership by a slavery state
Their ownership by a country riddled with countless human rights violations

**** absolutely everything about that PR club and the hypocrisy amongst it

(That said I did support them previously against manu in title races, unfortunately i was wrong to do so)

It's funny but I really doubt you said the same in the 08/09 season when Utd lost home and away to Liverpool who came 2nd. The league's decided over 38 games, not 2. If after 38 games two teams are level then maybe head to head record should be used before goal difference but who picks up the most points over 38 games usually counts for a little bit more ;)

And no, I was referring to Utd bottling it in the 2011/12 season. Utd were 5 points clear with 4 games to go and 4-2 up at home to Everton with 7 minutes left and choked.

Glad you agree :p jokeing aside i dònt think well beat city anyway to be honest

Whatever happens I am really glad that Liverpool have gone the distance in this season, all too often we as football fans (those of us who are) , sit and complain that the season is boring, that there isn't a good title fight and that the title is all over and done with months before the end of the season. This year we could well have two teams finish with over 95 points, a title which has changed hands more than any other season and two teams who are pushing each other to the limits and the title race may even go right down to the final game of the season. For footie fans and for the neutrals, that is brilliant and far better than boring seasons/leagues. Hopefully next year some of the other teams can raise their game too and we can get a down to the wire 3 or 4 way fight.
