it wasn't just the whole hilsborough thing. in todays game, your fans all turned into a bunch of whinging little kids whenever you didn't get your own way on decisions that were blatently obvious. the foul on welbeck in ET springs to mind.

Did the game go to extra time?

Also when has every home team not started bitching for every decision particularly after a farcical red card given against them (either red for both or neither.)

Some people getting on liek they've never witnessed a crowd before at home, really dumb.

well, yes, of course but it was laughable.

You're laughable.

I think that despite the best efforts of some very good people on both sides of the East Lancs Road, there will always be the minority of fans who will always use games like this as their release and come out with some pretty vile ****. While football remains predominantly a tribal game by it's very nature, I don't see an end to the Hillsborough/Munich chants.

I wouldn't want the intense rivalry to go away. As a fan it's always the first two fixtures I look for. Then the Xmas fixture list then the run in. The City game just pales into comparison.

For me the rivalry comes out of a mutal resentment and respect for what LFC have achieved and I guess it's vice versa. To other people I guess they define the rivalry by how low they can go and who can come out with the worse comments.

I have an ex mate of mine and he drummed it into his kids that everything about Liverpool and it's people were wrong and all that. Im sure for every one of my mates there is somebody over Liverpool way saying exactly the same thing.

I remember seeing young Kids coming to Old Trafford from Leeds with their famous Munich songs. I sometimes think that the hatred between fans is bred into them first and foremost and the reason and justification for hating is almost an after thought.

Fairly spot on there Loki.

I'm just wondering anyone who has witnessed these chants have you ever seen someone say over the age of 40 doing it? I'm pretty sure I haven't and it is pretty much all just chavs or inbred country people I've seen from Ireland doing it.

Hitzlsperger is a done deal apparently. Should be good cover especially while Gibson is out... if it means not having Nev in midfield I'd rather have a moose play there!

Seen it on a few occasions from both Utd fans and away fans. Stoke and Leeds probably being one of the worst places. I once visited the old Stoke ground in the cup and that was let's say a quite hairy experience.

Remember these 40 somethings were probably the young lads who wanted to get in and around the respective club firms 20 or so years ago. That was when football was still a dodgy game to goto.

Went to West Ham away in the Carling Cup two seasons back and the stand nearest to us was full of middle aged men making airplane gestures at us. I'm sure similar occurs at plenty of grounds around the country when United visit.
