Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 28th September 2011]

Maybe lots of people with bad English :p

Besides you're wrong on both counts. Neither United or Nani were wasteful. We didn't have much meaningful possession in the game. You can hardly say we wasted chances.

Phewwww we won 3-0...was pretty amazed by the result as i thought Bolton would have given us huge problems...very relieved to see RVP to bag 2 goals...hopefully he can start scoring more regularly.

Hopefully this will be the start of a good winning run.

So, when Evra got behind their back four and put the ball into the box when no one was in there; that wasn't wasteful?

When Nani received the ball out on the right, cut back and gave the ball away because his first touch was far too heavy?

When Young got into their 18 yard box and was doing far too much trickery before a poor ball in?

We wasted opportunities to create chances, we had 9 "shots" on target according to the BBC but how many goal stopping saves did Begovic make? I really can't remember many.

You seem to be the only United fan here to not see just how poor we were, you question explicit4u when they say Stoke deserved the draw when in fact - they probably should have won.

De Gea stopped two goal bound efforts and Crouch fluffed it when he chested the ball down, got around his man and his shot came off De Gea's arm.

Could be I suppose, I just think it's clear to see we're not as good without the injured players, we weren't great against Chelsea either.

Well yes thats true but it shows our strength in depth considering Rooney pulled out yesterday, Evans (love him or not) pulled out just before the game and Hernandez was injured in the initial period of the game.

Im not making excuses, fair play to Stoke for getting the point but under these circumstances i think we can be satisfied.

I'll take being "not great" against Chelsea every day of the week and beating them 3-1 with the luxury of hitting the bar, missing a sitter and Wayne falling on his arse taking a pen!

Mekrel you've yet to name me a player who doesn't make a mistake in a game?

So Nani cut back once and his touch let him down. If he didn't do stuff like that then he wouldn't score the incredible goals he does. No winger beats his man every time, no target man wins the header every time. If you want to criticise someone for making a bad decision or not getting a pass/first touch/shot right every time then you might as well criticise the entire team every game.

De Gea - Couple of times his clearances went out of play
Valencia - One time let Crouch turn him far too easily
Jones - Easily beaten for their goal
Rio - Positioning was poor for a couple of crosses in the second half
Evra - Silly yellow card, didn't control Pennant well
Fletcher - Lost the ball once in our half
Anderson - Couple of his passes were cut out
Nani - As mentioned, loose control once
Young - Dwelled on the ball when he got into the area once
Hernandez - Only last 6/7 mins
Owen - Poor control a couple of times
Berbatov - Took a bit too long on the ball

Just because every cross didn't go to a United player it doesn't mean it's wasteful, Stoke defended well when they needed to, truth is we didn't test them as much as we would have liked to, which was because Stoke didn't let us.

 I said in my reply to your question that there isn't a player that doesn't make mistakes. So why are you harping on about that still? You're acting like a little child who sticks his fingers in his ears whilst saying "la, la, la la"

However, we didn't create enough clear cut goal scoring opportunities. Mainly because we didn't get into the spaces we needed to in order to be a threat, but when we did, we were wasteful.

You're really taking this out of context and making yourself look a little bit silly. My post said we were wasteful with an example of how Nani made a bad choice. It didn't say "we lost, because Nani made a mistake when every time he should be perfect", which is what you seem to be implying.

By the letter of the law they were all penalties really, the third most clear of all. Utterly baffling how the ref just ignored it and gave an offside

The second would have been a little soft but Woodgate was pulling Berbatov's shirt and did catch him.

First was Woodgate on Hernandez, second was Berbatov being fouled in the box by Woodgate, third was a clear handball by Shawcross that the linesman gave on offside for (despite the fact the handball was before the offside)

The first one should have been but the other two were soft. The shawcross one his arm was tucked into his side, how it constitutes a clear handball I'll never know.

Good win for the mighty Sheffield Wednesday today

Started slowly (actually that's putting a nice gloss on it, we were ****ing terrible) we then remembered how to play football, Lines and Buxton were pretty good in the first half but the rest of the team woke up after about ~30 minutes. Only one side in it then. O'Connor got a scrappy first and goal machine Madine added a second.

Second half was one way traffic, played well in the second half :) Madine added another (penalty)

Good win, shocking first half an hour that shouldn't be ignored, a better side would have put a couple past us.

Also; at all Premier League arm chair fans that think they sometimes get "dubious decisions" or a ref who doesn't give them everything their way, drop down to see the standard of refereeing for League One. Shocking today.

We had a female linesman who was amazing as was the other bloke on the far side (both got every offside for both spot on) but the referee was utterly awful. Wasn't fit to referee a kids kick about.

I caught the United game, thought that United were wasteful with the chances they made. Didn't quite have that killer instinct about them either; don't think Owen is good enough for a top side, and there is still some deadwood in the United squad. Stoke still play kick and rush football and Crouch is still useless. Fair play to them though played quite well, pressed really well, massive point at home and they've done well at home so far.

Good win for Arsenal by all accounts? Confidence boost will be a massive positive for them.
