Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 28th September 2011]

I think Henderson is a guy you sign for too much money now knowing full well that in two years he would have seemed a bargain if another team had bought him?

Dalglish spoke about Henderson in his autobiography (wrote before he got the Liverpool job) so he's obviously a player he's had his eye on for some time and while he's clearly 1 for the future, he's got to be able to perform now too. As above, I don't think he's done as badly as Mr Positive might suggest but he needs to offer us a bit more (particularly going forward) than he's done so far. I hope that's just a confidence thing.

Whether we overspent to sign him is down to interpretation; as I banged on about all summer, spending £xm on a 21 year old is in reality considerably less than spending the same fee on a 28 year old, equally £16m in this day an age is considerably less than £16m 5 years ago.

£16m is a lot of money but you've got to put it into context.

Great first half by Spurs, should have had more goals.

Want a medal for finishing about 7th, ****

If he was wearing number 14 yes, caught it twice. Wolves were attacking our box on both occasions, one leading to their goal, and he was at the edge of the screen just jogging back.

I recorded it so I'll take another look at motd later but I can't say I've noticed any sort of lack of effort from Henderson either today or in any of his previous games.

His arm is out horizontally from his body, therefore clearly not by his side.

I felt you deserved penalties but that wasn't one, it hit his right arm not his left if you watched it on TV and saw good replay angles.

Like the commentator, was it george someone? Scottish guy, went on a rant about how ridiculous it wasn't a penalty for a good 2 minutes (like fully laying into the referee and linesman) until he saw the proper angle and then basically tried to make himself not look totally retarded because it would have been very harsh as it hit the arm by his side as he turned his back to it therefore would have hit his side anyways.

You should have had other penalties granted, shocked Giggs missed at the end too.

EDIT: John Champion you could tell from his awkward silence on the commentary he knew it wasn't a stonewall penalty and would be harsh after seeing the replay after george went on his mad rant.

Hernandez not coming back on, well done ref. We've lost a player off injured and you didn't even give us the penalty and deserved red :(

He'd be a better player if he didn't foul constantly.

Crouch fouling Jones again there.

Another top class save from De Gea! He has such quick hands from shots like that.

David De Gea has made the most saves in the Premier League this season. (28)

Poor?

Jones is flipping amazing.

I read these threads every weekend, got to page 13 and just thought, this is fun, avoided all the results, watched MOTD then had a quick read and its so funny reading but knowing the results.

At times I ask myself, why do I bother with these ****** sky sports generation that have never seen a football match then belittle other people because they can yet are the masters of commentating on a game and saying where professional are going wrong!

I think Valencia really needs to show something this season. Otherwise he might be out this summer.

edit:

lol crouch

You know nothing about football, admit it, its ok, you bought him for £17m now he is worth nothing? Kept Wigan in the EPL, same with N'Zogbia at Villa, doing poorly thus being a crap player.

What are you on about

Talking about real football, son.

If you have ever been on a terrace, been bouncing with the fans, old school.

I am talking to a different generation and culture, sky sports/box office is not football.

Your running commentary just made me laugh thats all and the outrage and not getting the decisions, its football it happens away from home.

Yes right dear

Where did I say it didn't happen? I'm aware it happens, doesn't mean I can't be annoyed about it. Do you not get annoyed if you get a decision go against you?

And don't make me laugh with all your plastic fan crap, it's pitiful and just makes you look silly.

This forum is getting ever so predictable and boring recenenlty its just the same routine time and tiime again, running commentery from armchairs and the inevitable fall out when either one of Liverpool or United dont win.

Then either Gustov, Cheets or biz come on and all the united or liverpool fans (depends which one wins) just gang up on them (sometimes rightly so)

Then DM comes on saying how much Walcott and Song suck and the webell will just randomly pop in with some random remark that makes me chuckle

sigh/

You're 28, when did you do this? When you were 10? Yeah real old school dad.

I was at the Arsenal match today, for the first half they looked as though they didn't know what to do when they had possession... and so many opportunities to shoot weren't taken. Second half was better, red card looked very weak though.

Stoke were brilliant and I'd say they deserved more than a point. Its just that Crouch is kinda crap.

If this is how we play without Rooney, then the next several weeks are going to be a test.... and I think Chico is made of glass. :(
