Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th April - 2nd May 2012]

Tim,Man Utd fan, on text: "Shambolic display from us today Fergie got it completely wrong, think it's time for Sir Alex and United to part ways, he's holding us back with his short-sightedness"

Ah, the good old nobs on BBC text, seriously where do they find these idiots.

Park, technically as proficient just less athletic, Carrick the same, lol, if you say so...........

I think you misunderstand or I didn't explain it.

Players like Scholes, Giggs etc come up against the **** kickers and usually their technique is much better. Nine times out of ten that's usually enough they don't have to match them physically.

When you come up against City, they can match you in pretty much every department and also beat you physically

Gareth Barry is good for City but utterly abysmal for England. If he gets anywhere near the England first XI, especially considering how good Scott Parker has been for spurs, I will personally go to Ukraine and injure him.

It's not, Utd have been poor for 2-3 years, and getting worse every year, it not costing them yet does not mean it hasn't been happening. At some point, probably this year now, another team will come along and take their title away from them, next year, another team might challenge them for 2nd, at which point the job becomes harder.

The problem is there wasn't anything stopping Fergie improving and fixing the problems 2 years ago so they were stronger now, and stronger for next year. He's let glaring problems go ignored for years. Starting Park tonight is as mental as Wenger starting Djourou, useless footballers.

Wenger made mistake after mistake, poor replacement player after poor replacement player for years, and every year he could have improved us instead.

At some point that will cost us the champs league and it won't be THAT single season that costs us, it will be the years we did nothing about it. Same goes for Utd, this season, maybe next season not being in the title race will be about mistakes made this season, last season and the season before as well.

Fergie has been screwing up, Park being paid to do anything is a mistake, Welbeck, lol, not using Berbatov, Rooney in a role he's not particularly good at, etc, etc, etc.

with one of the best forwards in the world. Smart.

He was a decent player but I'm not sure if he ever was one of the best forwards in the world, let alone now. It seems the more he doesn't play the better he's become in some people's eyes. A bit like Darren Fletcher, his best games were always the ones he didn't play in.

Indeed. This is just a travesty.

Spend all that money and then decide you can't be bothered with one of the best forwards in the world. Smart.

Great player he was sublime against Benfica when I went to Old Trafford, looks lazy but his touch and control is superb.

Is he going this summer?

Fergie to step down and Pep to taker over?

In the league then? He's an excellent player and hasn't been given much of a proper chance over the past couple of seasons at least.

It's not his fault he doesn't do the whole headless chicken thing like Welbeck.

Looks like it. :(

That whole headless chicken thing is exactly what we missed tonight, we couldn't handle the legs of Toure, Barry, Tevez etc etc. You may underrate defending from the front but it would have helped immensely tonight having some stopping City playing out from the back as easily as they did.

Berbatov wouldn't of made a jot of difference tonight nor in a large majority of games we've lost/dropping points in this season. Baz is right the less he plays the better he apparently is, ironic really because when he was playing he was **** in many people eyes

Certainly true, but we have really slowed the tempo of our game this season and Berbatov would seem a more natural fit in this system. His partnership with Hernandez was promising too but short lived, and he performed as well as any of our other strikers when given chances this year.

But then the defence fell apart against Newcastle and Blackburn and this apparently was Berbatov's fault.

edit: Taggart just said the bust-up with Mancini was caused because Mancini was constantly in the 4th official's ear and shouting at the ref :o

which is simply laughable coming from him, he should know better. it's not like the united players (ferdinand and rooney mostly) were always on at the ref tonight was it?

i don't know what united supporters expected? typical performance really only up against a team who has no fear or reason to fear you. couple that with a frankly amateur line-up and it was setting yourself a massive mountain to climb?

did it finish with 0 shots on target from united? if so, that's laughable.

ferguson's ace card has always been his ccc attitude, he blew that with his tantrum with mancini and it is now in his head.

not that i'd want either of them to go but with a cm of sandro and modric, united would be a force in games like this.

be ironic if city win the league by 5 on gd.

Clearly not, as we had Park for that (assisting Rooney) and he was utterly useless.

Sometimes you just need attacking players who actually attack and think about unlocking defences instead of relying on crosses and so forth. Also, he can hold up the ball extremely well too.

I've always thought he's one of our better players whether he plays or not. Sure, a lot of people moan about him but that is purely down to them thinking he's lazy when he isn't really.

"This was the first time in three years that United have not had a shot on target in a Premier League game."

a sad day :(
