Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th December 2012 - 2nd January 2013]

In recent weeks we got smashed by Swansea,, outplayed and a flukey win against West brom, outplayed and very tough game against Wigan and a soft as hell penalty to win it for us, looking toothless aside from that, and outplayed for 70 or so mins by Newcastle and a hilarious final 20-25 mins making the game not look close.

Two of those games needed penalties to win and were poor poor performances, Reading are just terrible, were terrible and we still conceded two, we conceded 3 to Newcastle and fully deserve to be 2-1 down to Southampton.

Results are great, I like points I like being up the table, but the performances have been overall dire, defensively abysmal(almost all the goals are down to fullbacks being unbelievably inept).

I want to see some improvement in our performances and preferably not getting lucky results against the bottom 5 basically.

The worst thing about these 4 wins on the trot so far is, it won't convince Wenger to make changes, nor will it convince the board to get rid of Wenger.

I would say ignoring the results we were outplayed by 5 of the bottom 6 teams since November when we got a crap draw against Villa..... surely someone at Arsenal has to spot the problem?

EDIT:- make it outplayed by 4 of the bottom 6, and not better than either Villa or QPR.

Jesus, Gervinho was standing offside, so I don't actually blame Gibbs for trying to find someone else there, if Gervinho wasn't god damned offside the blasted shot across goal was probably the thing to do, woo, crap freekick from the useless pratt.

Do u still rate the way we play? im an arsenal fan and i dont. we are quite boring nowadays:(

Arsenal looked weak.

They are toothless up front, weak at the back with a non existent midfield. I can imagine a team with 2 solid midfielders tearing Arsenal apart with ease. They have Ramsey, Wiltshere and Carzola but they don't have someone like Viera these days. Someone who can steady the midfield, keep the ball when under pressure and play it forward. Even Fabregas did a lot of the work when he was around. It was impossible to get the ball off him.

They don't look creative up front either, passing isn't sharp, not enough runs from the players up front and crossing was terrible.

Overall they were lucky to come away with a draw since the goal they score itself was an own goal.

In an ideal world they need a real striker, someone in the vein of RVP, Henry, a game changer kind of player. They used to have loads and in any single game any one of them can turn it on and change the course of the game. These days they don't really have that person. Man United had Ronaldo, now Rooney, RVP & Co. Carzola seems to be their closest big player these days.

I also think their mentality isn't quite there, they don't have the believe that Man United have and push for the win, on the contrary they look like a team you can push over easily.

Sheffield Wednesday were very poor today the only highlights were Mattock and Lee, other than that a performance that was far too lethargic and sloppy.

Also; I think I'm going to die.

Thats ok we dont mind. :p

Wouldnt describe it as an epic performance though.

B - can do better. Not very free flowing. Giggs actually played quite well so thats a bonus. Scoreline flattered us tbh. :o DDG was a bored spectator for much of the game.

Thats a bit harsh - at least a b+ due to the clean sheet (which is a nice change for the books after the majority of the season giving away stupid goals)

Given Rooney is injured (again), Vidic is resting his knee, Rafael was back after a rest, its good to give some playing time to some while resting some important players.

Neither ManU or Arsenal played well but the difference was really RVP. I was so happy to hear even Mancini agree with me that RVP could well decide the title.
