Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [2nd - 5th March 2012]

I would reply to you monkeymatt, but I don't think there's any need anymore

:rolleyes::rolleyes: Why don't you try and add something to a discussion, rather than letting others do the arguing for you and then posting pointless comments like the one I have quoted..

If things stay the same as they are now, we stay in 8th just 3 points behind Liverpool. Not bad, not bad at all.

I don't know why people still group Ronaldo with Messi, Ronaldo is in with the rabble behind Messi.

Ronaldo is a lot closer to Messi than he is to all the other best players so putting him in with the rest is harsh on him.

Just pointless, if you really think RvP is a goal scorer and nothing more then as DM says, you just haven't watched him over the last 6 years and me posting on here won't change that.

Read what I type, rather than other peoples interpretations of what I type. I don't think RvP is just a goalscorer, I'm saying he isn't even close to being as good as Ronaldo and Messi. I have said the entire time that he is a very good player but they are just utterly brilliant.

Now that my comments have been over-exaggerated as much as possible by RvP's fanbase, can we please talk about something other than this?

I dont think anyone is suggesting that, more that due to his position in the team the payoff for scoring all the goals is that RVP's all round game isn't as good as it once might have been. Again at the risk of repeating myself did RVP run Liverpool's defence ragged today like Suarez did Arsenals?

I doubt anyone is trying to play down RVP's goal scoring record this season just merely pointing out that a lot of games scoring a goal as big a contribution as that is has been his only contribution to a game. That aspect is obviously is huge for Arsenal as it gives you a genuine threat however badly you're playing but at the same time it does make somewhat highlight that some of the praise he gets from you lot is a tad OTT. Like I said who deserved a goal for their performance today more RVP or Suarez?

RVP deserved 2 goals, Suarez deserved none, there is this unfortunate thing in English football these days where, if you run around a lot, people think you deserve a goal. Suarez can't finish, he consistently can't finish, he also dived to get a penalty and wasn't trusted to take said penalty. Did he deserve a goal, no, the only time he hit the target was with a tame ass shot(s?) that was easily saved, that doesn't deserve a goal.

As for if RVP ran the defence ragged, that is largely down to how crap the rest of the Arsenal team were than RVP's lack of involvement, if no one gets him the ball often, he won't be involved. he wasn't poor on the ball he simply wasn't given the ball in general. But considering he scored two I would still say, yeah, he won the fight with the defence quite easily.

So Suarez didn't deserve a goal for running around a lot but RVP did deserve a goal for not running around a lot (because he certainly didn't seem to)

Suarez was a constant threat despite his inability to find an end product and ultimately that was obviously the determining difference between the two today but his tame shot would have been called one of the goals of the season had it gone in due to the approach play.

Also you cant moan about RVP's lack of involvement being due to Arsenal's midfield not when Liverpool's is crap as well :p

Liverpool were crap, just slightly less crap, Liverpool dominated the game, chances, posession, hmm, looks like ARsenal had more shots than I thought but still, the general feel of the game was one of Liverpool dominance and Arsenal fairly toothless.

RVP deserved two goals because.... he put the ball in the net twice and both counted, and Suarez was given a bunch of chances and failed to put the ball in the net...... running around is neither here nor there, Suarez wasn't good enough infront of goal, RVP was.

WEST BROM, woooo. Frankly the last 20 mins all I've heard is random west brom players names yelled out as they take yet another shot and miss by inches.

AVB can't be far away from looking for a new job. Everything he's done is basically a joke, insane attempt to make players "respect" him. The same players are playing worse under him, poor transfer market dealings. Considering how utterly crap Arsenal/Pool have been Chelsea should have walked away with top 3 this season.
