Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [2nd - 6th February 2018]

Not convinced that was worth a yellow, nor that it wasn't, bit soft for a second yellow but probably the ref taking mercy on Chelsea and thinking they'd be better without him even if down to 10. Honestly he was playing so god awful that Conte should have been subbing him before it happened.

He's exceptionally clumsy, he's careless with his passing and tackles, he's woeful positionally, he's just poor overall and have no idea how he's getting starts. Fabregas/Kante were a fantastic pairing, people make up their own stories but Fabregas is pretty good defensively and phenomenal in terms of creativity and attacking.

Chelsea haven't actually had terrible results, it's not Mourinho level collapse but the performance haven't been hugely better, just lucky. So many of the draws and a few of the wins they've played absolutely dire football for most of those games as today.

I haven't seen Bakayoko look anything better than incompetent at any point this season. Feels like maybe Bakayoko was someone Conte insisted on so despite all his protestations about not being backed he feels he has to play one of the players he pushed them to buy?

I've only just realised Richarlison is only 20 years old. If he puts in the work he could become a seriously good player over the next couple of years. 90% of his game is already there and if/when he gets that composure and ruthless streak in front of goal he'll become a star.
Watch Everton play, you'll see 10 bad ones there.
10 bad ones and a dwarf for a keeper.

if there was an award for 'least looks like a pl player' it''s got to go to deeney

if i saw him in a sunday league line up i'd not question it

There was contact, but why can’t they just fall over normally...

It’s not a dive, but it is simulation

Because a lot of times they're going down when they could have easily stayed on their feet. The problem you then have is that refs do not give pens if a player stays on his feet. A defender can trip or pull an attacker and clearly knock them off balance but if the player stays up the ref will not give a pen.

Bakayoko is so bad, the first yellow Caragher is trying to excuse him, saying it's coming from the pressure and having no time. What, people get passes with players literally a yard behind them, the Watford player was 7-8 yards away, he knew he was coming. The issue came because as he tried to turn away from the player the ball got stuck under his feet because his touch is awful. He got the ball stuck which allowed the Watford player to take it off him.

He's just a disaster of a player, zero composure, no passing ability, poor positioning, there is just no part of his game that looks good. Doesn't even look good enough for a relegation side from what I've seen. Stealing a living.

As for penalty, contact couldn't have been more clear.

llalana is playing us in an under 23's match (i think it's going on now anyway) and from the clip i've just seen he's just tried to throttle one of our players

It’s not a dive, but it is simulation

It's not simulation, it's not wanting to get destroyed and there is zero wrong with that. If he had the other leg planted and made no effort to protect himself, his left leg hits his right leg and Courtois takes out his right leg and he goes down in a heap. When there was contact he lifted his other foot and went down in as controlled way as possible and why not.

If anything what he did made it look less like a penalty but had he allowed Courtois to wipe out his other leg it would have looked much worse, probably got Courtois a card and maybe he would have also picked up an injury.

Making your landing easier AFTER you've been hit is not simulation, there was no way he wasn't going down at that point.
