Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Dec 2011 - 4th Jan 2012]

I was just responding to the "if he does god knows whats going on" part of your post. He can start in any of the games up until the 13th and still appeal (or decide not to).

The only logical reason for not starting him tonight would be if we've already let it be known we're not appealing and his ban would start straight away. I'd assume we'd have known about that if it was the case though.

Oh i know i wasnt having a dig or anything, Turns out were not appealing so does miss tonight.

Well Carroll will finally get a run of games i guess if Gerrard sets him up like he did at the weekend twice he might score a few goals.

Liverpool will not appeal against Luis Suarez's misconduct charge and his eight match suspension begins tonight: bit.ly/wGZE19

Interesting.... now why would they announce they're not appealing tonight of all nights?

Leave it until the last minute, hoping City prepare believing he'll play. And iinm, his first game back will be against Utd? Should be interesting :p

edit: although, if we beat Oldham, I'm not sure if there will be another FA Cup tie in between, so his first game back might be against Spurs.

Another plus is Suarez gets an extended rest so be fresh to face UTD if we beat them at Old Trafford will be even more of an intresting game now >.<

And that fact obviously wouldn't have been lost on Dalglish/Liverpool would it ;)

See my edit. I'm not sure it would be Utd actually.

edit: And as the Suarez thread's been locked. On the decision not to appeal; although I thought they had a legitimate argument to get the ban reduced from 8 to 4 games, given the FA's history on appeals in general (just ask Milijas) and because of this being a high profile case at a time when racism is high on the agenda, any appeal would have been pointless.

yeah there was a rumour floating around that Anderson's injury was just pr, to give him time to get some of his weight off (which he seems to have done). Have no idea if there is any truth to it however (but playing at least 4 weeks early is a minor miracle if he did have as serious an injury as originally stated)

We stopped someone playing to help them lose weight? :o

because he was SEVERELY over weight yes, and needed to get his general fitness back (edited)

As I said not sure how reliable the rumour was, but he certainly looks trimmer than in the Manchester Derby (which was his last match I seem to recall)

Club still pretty ****ed off at the FA in the statement given it would seem and think its a load of ****.

If that and the Suarez statement are both truthful i can't for the life of me see why they aren't appealing.

Oh yeah and Tom you were right, that initial statement looks retarded now if they are just going to accept this.

On another note just read the statement from us and a seperate one from Suarez, Both read well. Purdy is correct the statement from the club reads as if we should be appealing but over all i think maybe like some others its best to let it drop weather thats right or wrong is for each person to decide on what they beleave, I wont go into what i think again ive posted it before and its been discussed allot on this forum as it is.

Now to beat City! Come on! :D

No they didn't :o

They may as well have wrote;

"We think you're wrong but were not appealing, instead Luis will sacrifice himself so the fight against racism can continue. Son, Lover, Martyr."

:p

They read well in the sense that if we were any more direct FA might come and have another go for us, you get what i mean your being picky :p No Nasri/Ballloteli tonight possibly due to illness so a bonus for us :D

Just out of interest, now there is no appeal (ie after the statements tonight could effectively end any further discussions) - do you think there should be some kind of apology?

It could easily be worded to apologize without actually admitting any guilt, being so high profile it might be a good thing for the player / club to do.

I would be stunned if either happend, and I can see reasons for and against issueing one - just would be interested to hear what LFC fans think

Sadly true.

Then again they might just recognise what a ***** organisation it is and can see what way the appeal would most likely go.

Definitely needs to be a change in rules, none of this guilty until proven innocent rubbish.

If they apologised it would be completely hypocritical to every statement they have given, they feel they have done nothing wrong, why apologise?

Apologise to who? If they're still of the belief that Evra's version of events wasn't accurate then it's no surprise they've offered him no apology.

Suarez probably should have offered a general apology for using the word Negro though. That said, I haven't seen you apologise yet for calling Evra a negro and you don't even have cultural misunderstandings to fall back on :p
