Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Mar - 2nd April 2012]

I worked it out, Dalglish's league form is still far better than Hodgeson's (although probably not recently).

This is league form only.

Dalglish

P50 W22 D12 L16

W 44%
D 24%
L 32%

Hodgson

P20 W7 D4 L8

W 35%
D 20%
L 45%

Still poor though considering Dalglish thinks they can win the title next season.

For reference Man UTD's league form since Dalglish took over:

P48 W34 D7 L7

W70.8%
D14.6%
L14.6%

They're going to need quite a turn around next season.

We're desperately in need of an out and out striker. If we had someone half decent upfront with Suarez we'd be in a far better position than we are now. We've also been very unlucky with the woodwork as well as very poor from the spot which hasn't helped matters. Biggest problem at the moment appears to be confidence and belief though :(

The hundred odd million Liverpool have spent on players in the last 18 months being below Everton who have about 2p to spend is hardly an acceptable performance is it?

Anyone other than Dalglish in charge and you'd be getting real fan discontent, he's got a lot of good will due to things which happened 20 years ago and his standing in the city but I hope he knows when it's time to fall on his sword.

The cup runs have probably bought him time.

Thought it was interesting Gerrard waved Dalglish off the pitch when the whole Reina situation was going on, can't see any of Uniteds players telling Fergie to do one if he came on the field!

all you liverpool fans are living in a dream world, Liverpool used to be a big club, now they are just another team making up the numbers and won't win a league in the next 10 years! i'm not saying newcastle will but least we're heading in the right direction, Liverpool are on the decline, it is what it is

We used to be a big club but you'll never be one ;)

Your success this year will be your biggest downfall.

Ashley will cash in on Tiote, Krul, Ba etc in the summer

Aww what a shame,Liverpool fans living on past glories again

We won a trophy less than 2 months ago. When was your last trophy?

edit: and a genuine question to you or any other Newcastle fan. Would you take finishing a place or 2 above us in the league and winning nothing or winning 1 (possibly 2 cups) but a couple of places lower in the league?

Hahaha. I love this sort of comment. Any owner would have been foolish not to take the 35mill for Carroll but for that we're labelled a 'selling' club.

Tiote and Krul are more committed than anyone else right now. Ba - Nothing a new contract won't solve.

It's true though, if Liverpool had such players as Tiote, Ba etc performing they wouldn't need to sell them. I don't trust Ashley as far as I could throw him.

You could be right and if it happens it happens, but with any luck they will be replaced with players of equal quality.
but I'm going to enjoy this while it lasts because remember (we havent played anyone yet/our bubble will burst soon/we have been very lucky when we have played everyone/the other teams we have played have had there off day when they played us )did I miss anything out

I'm not going to comment on the Newcastle/Liverpool game specifically as all I've seen are the .gifs in here — it sounds like there were a few contentious decisions (but aren't there always).

However, in general terms these decisions do seem to even themselves out over a season.

I know we've had some shocking decisions go against us this season but we've also had a couple of fortunate ones as well (Man U game and today). I'm sure Liverpool have had their fair share this season as well.

I won't say it's justice (because I'll get shouted at again) so let's call it Karma. :p

It's always sickening when it goes against you, but you always feel vindicated when it goes your way (especially if the last shocker against you was recent).

The only way it's going to stop is if they bring in video evidence for every big decision.
