Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Mar - 2nd April 2012]

Never understood the whole head to head (literally) thing in football, it's just really aggresive. Glad he got a red for it.

Contact was minimal at best, but in the end Reina is a complete idiot and deserves the red. You just don't act like that and expect to get away with it.

ah yes, damien not daniel and you're welcome to him.

it's not just the carroll thing with dalglish, it's loads of stuff. even your captain told him to get off the pitch. i'm sure (and have actually heard) he's a nice bloke in life but his time in football is up.

I have a huge amount of respect for commoli. At spurs he identified scores of really good players and got them for us (there were rotters too). I think he was responsible for: kaboul, a&e, Lennon, huddle stone, bale, taraabt, Dawson, prince boateng and a few more who have all gone on to success

I think this is more dalglish than the players now.

:D I'd love some one to make a YouTube compilation of all of Daglish's interviews and the foolishness he comes out with.

What the youtube maximum video length. It would be hard to cut them to fit. :D

The only Liverpool fans I now know that think he should stay are the same one's that think Suarez was badly treated because negrito is acceptable in the backwards country he comes from.

What a tough one, the fans will want him gone but few dare say it out aloud. The new owners will not want to be hated after one season, but they cannot give this man more money.

Kenny himself needs to do the honorable thing and let them bring in someone else or just get Rafa back.

A friend said to me last night that Liverpool have become Newcastle, when Newcastle fans didn't want to say out loud that Keegan was a deluded **** wit because of who he was and his standing at the club.

It was the same when Everton kept bringing Kendall back in the hope it was possible to still build a great team with smaller finances than the rest.

I actually do feel for Liverpool fans, what they went through with the other yanks to finally have an owner invest in the club only for it to be spunked up the wall on complete and utter drivel.

Didn't release he walked away from the Sky Sports post match interview when asked about Liverpool's form in the league.

Thought it was interesting Gerrard waved Dalglish off the pitch when the whole Reina situation was going on, can't see any of Uniteds players telling Fergie to do one if he came on the field!

It was a bit reminiscent of someone trying to keep control of their senile old grandad. :p

Jose Enrique Twitter quote, July 25th 2011:

"The club is allowing all the major players of the team to go. Seriously, do you think it is the fault of the players? This club will never again fight to be among the top 6 again with this policy.'

I'll say it again, this is why people who think Newcastle selling people will somehow destroy the team are so completely wrong. Enrique was both believing his own hype, demanding too much money and most importantly, highly replaceable, players thought the same thing and have been proven completely and utterly wrong.

Liverpool thought they had a fantastic deal with Enrique, but the hilarious thing is, Newcastle got a player who was demanding a huge wage off the books for someone younger and promising for not hugely cheaper but on lower wages with more potential for resale value. Enrique was simply flattered by having Guti infront of him, most left backs would as Guti is absolutely excellent helping out defensively and covering.

Enrique could have stayed, on a bigger wage or stayed on the same wage making a fuss and looking for a move out, or Newcastle switched up saving a little money in the process, got rid of someone causing trouble and moved onwards and upwards.

They'll do the same end of season, if they need to. Enrique, Barton, I'm not sure Nolan was actually too vocal about leaving, but he refused a contract offer and left for more money, think that is basically the same with all the players who left.

Simple fact is the business plan has worked exceptionally well for 3 years and every bitter player who wanted more money who left for more money, are now at worse teams. It's hugely dependant on buying the right players and not getting sucked into the big name or big price stupid fights that aren't good value.

It's amazing that Newcastle have actually gone and sold everyone who believed their own hype! Never thought someone would turn up there and actually stand up to the Barton and crew nonsense that they were all 50k per week players and deserved it.

That type of confidence boosting (overpaying terrible players) gets you exactly where Liverpool have ended up, struggling behind your closest rivals :D

He walked away from another interview? Classy. They're entitled to ask about Liverpool's league form, after all it is on the channel that covers the league.

Hopefully United will go with Scholes in midfield tonight. Always seem to be a bit more composed when he plays. Last week Fulham were just cruising straight through our midfield like it wasn't even there. A nice early goal should settle us as well (looking at you Rooney).

I think it's time for Giggs to retire, which is a real shame. He does have good games, and has scored some important goals, but it has got to the stage now where he looks like he'll cost us more games than he'll win. I've not seen Park play in ages, but he used to be great on the left.

I think Park has a place out wide as a sub simply from his work rate, and while Giggs has had some shockers without doubt, he comes in (sometims) and controls a game when you least expect it.

Young Carrick Scholes and AV in midfield tonight (depending how Nani is for fitness) with Rooney and Chicharito ahead of them

It will be a tricky one tonight no matter who is playing - 3 tough teams in a row all fighting relegation, with AV soon after (who arent that far away from the battle)

Arsenal/Spurs scrap is going to be great!

Really hope we finish above them for the first time in my living memory :P

Looking like a great end to the season for relegation fighting and mid table stuff!

Hope spurs can get the cup aswell, Im just being greedy now I know...

While he still pops up with Norwich style winners he can stay as long as he wants! I expect next season to be his final year though.

As for tonight I'm hoping we line up like this;

---------------De Gea---------------
Rafael---Evans---Ferdinand---Evra
Valencia---Carrick---Scholes---Young
---------------Rooney
------------------Hernandez

Subs: Amos, Jones, Smalling, Cleverley, Giggs, Berbatov, Welbeck

3 points really would be title defining, in fact if we win I cant see anyway back for City

I was thinking about then marvelling at this yesterday as well;

Given? lol
Zogbia? lol
Nolan? lol
Barton? lol
Carrlol? lol
Enrique? lol
Owen? lol. (yes he went to a bigger and better club but he's a bench warmer and only there to pick up his money to finance his horse stables)
Beye? lol
Bassong? lol
Duff? lol(ish) he is done ok for himself at Fulham.

There are probably others to add who I have forgot.

All are players fans and the board wanted to keep but not at the obscene wages they were on from the Shepard era. They thought they were bigger than the club and moved on thinking they were gods gift and they are all now worse off from a football, if not a financial, aspect. A lot of respect to Cashley and Pardew for doing what they have done, it will be tough to keep repeating this year after year but they are doing well so far.

Doesn't matter how fit Nani is, he should never start over Valencia.

If they were tough teams they wouldn't be fighting relegation. Only have ourselves to blame if we throw away points.
