Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 7th Feb 2012]

You're a very confused person. You're sure Suarez assaulted everybody he's ever met but not sure Defoe bit Masch :o

I remember the Dawson incident well. He took a dive so Suarez gave him a kick and told him to get his soft arse up. No doubt racially abusing him too.

And I genuinely didn't mean to take any focus off Suarez. I didn't believe that anybody was going to question whether Defoe actually bit Masch. I only said it as a joke anyway.

simply lol. he won the ball and oh the irony.

Can we make a big thread just for arguing about Suarez and football racism instead of having this problem every week?

Liverpool fans are going to have to accept that, for whatever reason, Suarez is viewed as one of the most horrible and unprofessional top flight footballers.

I know it's natural to defend your star player but everyone simply isn't going to agree, ever.

You wait for next weekend when Suarez takes a dive and steps up to convert a 93rd minute penalty to win us the game, only to celebrate Martin Keown style in Evra's face. This place will go into meltdown.

Tbf, Suarez could scratch his backside and there will be people wanting to charge him with some sort of public disorder offense :p

I have no problem with people hating Suarez but I'm all up for having a sensible debate over individual incidents like last nights. I think I'm wasting my time trying to have that debate with cm1179 though.

My wife who doesn't even browse on OCUK just looked over my shoulder and even commented "they're not still talking about Suarez are they?"

:D

has defoe done anything similar since?

Well, I can remember the following. Sure a Google search would highlight more.

* tackle which broke Craig Gordon's forearm. Don't know whether it was intentional or not, but Gordon certainly seemed to think so after the game

* two footed lunge on Gary Caldwell

* stamp on a Portsmouth player

And...

* deliberate handball to control the ball (and go on to score) against Young Boys

Yeah, i'd say he has...

imo it's just the sheer number of things he's done wrong already in half a career, some of it is really shocking too. It's just like Joey Barton, you do enough things wrong and eventually everybody just accepts you're scum and you'll do as scum do. If Suarez had a clean career and had done one of biting/diving into stupid tackle/kicking Parker/whatever in isolation then people would hardly mention it (obviously discounting the racism issue)

Why is Rooney sticking his nose he, he is a ***** of a highest order, its not like he doesn't go around swinging elbows at other players (Wigan and Stoke) and gets away with it and stamping on people.

Cant stand him, he is what is wrong with English football and is actually seen as a nice guy.

Probably true indeed, although I haven't gotten involved in such a discussion on here yet so I wouldn't really know.

It's true regarding every set of fans and their players. You only have to look at cm1179's post last weekend regarding Ekotto's challenge vs Wigan or his refusal to accept that Defoe clearly bit Mascherano. We're all bias, we all defend our own. Some are more extreme than others though.
