Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 8th March 2016]

Delaney slides into a challenge, gets no where near the ball and catches Benteke. How can that not be a foul?

You can say it's harsh, you can criticise Benteke for not trying his best to stay up but that doesn't change what Delaney done. I can honestly say if I was a Palace fan I'd be fuming but I'd be fuming at Delaney for making a ridiculous tackle.

He didn't not try his best to stay up, he tried his best to go down, a world, an absolute world of difference. Had he simply kept running as usual he wouldn't have gone down.

A player not trying his best to stay up I'm absolutely fine with, that is not what happened here. Had he kept running completely normally he wouldn't have gone down. The contact was simply not enough to effect his stride or cause him to require fighting to stay up.

"not doing his best to stay up" Seriously? He 100% dives pure and simple, the cheating culture in football is disgusting and it's sad to see how much it has spread to fans and commentators as well.

As I've always said, until refs give fouls based on the actual challenge then attackers will always go to ground. They'd be stupid not to.

The Benteke incident is a marginal one but there's been many an instance where an attacking player has clearly been impeded but stayed on his feet and the ref hasn't given the pen. By staying on their feet all they've done is disadvantage themselves.

There's been some retarded red cards this weekend. I think Mata's won the award for the most retarded though. 2 braindead challenges.

Yes football encourages cheating, I'm not saying he shouldn't have done it. Of course if he can cheat to win he will do it. It's disgusting that you're allowed to do it and get away with it and people defend it.

Stupid mistake by Mata, once again we're being completely outplayed by another team below us in the division. We must hold the record for that.

If a player out and out dives or worse, does what Vardy done the other week and actually makes the contact then nail them. If a player makes the most of a foul then blame the officials for encouraging it.

It would be wonderful if refs started giving fouls when players stayed up and then maybe we'd see more players do it. You won't see me criticise any player, even Utd players, for going to ground when they've been fouled whether they could stay on their feet or not though.

Who gets the plonker of the weekend award, Mata or Coquelin?

Mata. Coquelin's first yellow was regulation for the type of player he is and while the 2nd was too risky and needless, it wasn't nearly as stupid as Mata's 2nd. And his first is the sort of thing that does my nut in.
