A economic collapse would just as destructive
It's too complicated for you, too. The world economy is already collapsing because of the global warming!

It is?
It's because she is an educated brat who can only grasp the most basic of principles and the grown up discussion on balancing climate with economic realities is too complicated for her.
It's not difficult to connect the dots between more extreme conditions imposed on the tropics, the many short/long-term effects of resource scarcity and the countries most at risk also conveniently being where we manufacture practically everything that keeps wealthier society's standard of living politically sustainable.
For instance, the war in Syria was likely precipitated by a series of food shortages which of course further damaged the country's ability to produce food, now imagine that magnified many times over across the entire tropical belt and what effects that will have on everyone else who are also suffering in their own way?
Isolationist populism is the inevitable outcome I feel.
Am I witness to some sort of rising hysteria in your posts? Calm yourself, you'll just make yourself hoarse![]()
So, do you feel that there is an improvement in the air quality in downtown London or everything has been smoke and dust in people's eyes?
A 2016-vehicle is not compliant with ULEZ? WTH?
Ok, when will they stop all the kerosene combustion dirty airplanes over the London City, Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Stansted and London Southend?

in reality the doors are opening every other minute apart from at nightHow much electricity is being wasted in supermarkets, keeping refridgerated food on open fronted shelves and then keeping the aisles warm enough for customers not to moan at being cold?
Some chains are planning to put doors on cold sections in new stores and during refurbishments, other chains are resisting change.

A large part of our emissions are tied up in manufacturing and resource extraction. The point is that "will still want that new car" is not negative but positive in the current situation of climate and environmental and health emergencies!
A large part of our emissions are tied up in manufacturing and resource extraction.
If young people want a new iPhone every year or to drive a new car (probably changing it every 3 years on HP), jet off to Ibiza for their drunken weekends... yeah, I'm sorry but for those people there is no point pointing the finger at anyone else. World leaders (in democracies at least) are going to be influenced by what they think is popular and will get them re-elected. If young people want to keep flying; keep consuming; they aren't going to take drastic climate action that increases the cost of flying, or fuel, or consuming...
It's incredibly easy to look around and see what's going wrong. Changing the habits of the people - that's hard. That might be impossible, due to inherent selfishness and short-term thinking.
People will want their luxuries even as the sky rains blood. It is what it is. Greta pointing at the world leaders and saying this is all a failure of leadership - well that's plain wrong, isn't it. It's our collective failure, and we all need to own it.

16% isn't enough. Everyone needs to be doing their part. And virtually nobody is innocent. The top 1% are knocking out 16% of all emissions, let's start with them.

Let's start with all of us.
wasn't what they were pictorially representing on relative personal consumption (great film )
