Grid 2

Cockpit cam is rubbish, you're already viewing the game as if through a windscreen by virtue of it being on a screen, having another screen inside that with a this of the space wasted is just daft IMO, it's a completely unrealistic and overly narrow field of view.

Bonnet cam is much better.

Not really, dirt supported track ir. The cockpit cam was really great, but try to get a multiplayer game going with it forced on.No one wanted to play.

I wasnt a fan of Grid. I found the car physics wrong. I cant explain it, I didnt feel as if the cars actually 'connected' with the road. They seemed to float along if you catch my drift. Others driving sims just seemed to be better and I actually got immersion with the way other games coded the car physics. Flatout springs to mind.

I think I found the acceleration of the cars in Grid a bit unbelievable and false, they were very 'stuck' to the road and slid along as though they were on ice. Very hard to explain. I did try changing the driving settings, eg no traction control, driver assist etc but it just didnt seem right to me.

I found Shift and Shift 2 to be better in terms of car driving physics.
Will have to see what Grid 2 brings.

If you played GRID as a sim, then you were doing it wrong.

A bunch of us on here played about 80 hours of GRID online. Probably the most fun I've had in any driving game, ever.

None of us took it as a serious racing game. In fact a lot of the people who played don't ever play other racing games. But it was a great way for people to "pick up and play" with others and be able to compete.

Oh and the crashes weren't bad either :D

Is this the sort of game I can just mess around with by driving with the arrow keys?

I really can't be arsed with using a wheel or a controller.

Shift 2. Better. Driving physics...

I... never thought I'd hear those words in that context... Wow...

Also if you think those are racing sims you are sadly mistaken

Hell yes. :D

Loads of laps round Donnington, Formula 1000. Who's got the balls to cut the chicane every lap.

I loved grid on the pc, was gutted they took it offline.

I watched the stream last night, it looked ok, the touring car track looked fun.

Reading the chat at the side was funny, people repeating the same thing over and over, cockpit view, this looks rubbish il wait for project cars blah blah, i mean when is that ever going to come out?

Im sure Grid 2 will be great, and brilliant online.

Its not a sim, it doesnt claim to be one, but what it will be is a blast.

Im guessing if they made it sim like, they wouldn't sell anywhere near what they will with this.

Project Cars shouldn't even be compared to Grid it's a totally different game. It shouldn't be a matter of waiting for one or the other and having Grid sate your thirst until pCars matures. If you're looking for a sim, while there aren't the Forza or GT5 style massive driving sims that pCars looks to be trying to be, there are plenty of options on PC at the moment if not as pretty

Same old Codemasters game comments from angry joe public, it seems. "waah wahh this is a rubbish Sim".

Every single time. Was the same story with Dirt 2 and 3, Grid, and all the F1 games. Codemasters make fun arcade racers, complaining its not a very good sim is like complaining that FIFA is a rubbish first person shooter.

Am not really bothered about assists or interior cams, at the end of the day it's a fun arcade style racing game and I will be treating it as such. I'm looking forward to this one and hope it's as good as the first one :)

I always really loved drifting around corners or doing demolition derby in cockpit view though, even if it is an arcade style racing game. Cockpit camera made the game much more fun.

This, I recommend Grid to everyone, just for them to come back to me its a crappy sim, with my response, no its an excellent arcadey Racer.

Been playing Dirt 3 recently, another fantastic game, Had it for xbox, but when steam had it on sale I had to have it, and such eye candy on ultra, its beautiful.
